The funny part about this is if you have an HK SIM card in your phone you have Internet access. If you turn on a VPN on top of that you no longer have an Internet connection. (e.g. WireGuard back to your own network at home.)

If you live in Cn & expect to have any kind of internet access with the wider world, you’ll need a VPN. You can either get an Official Permit for a Govt-Approved VPN (usually for foreign businesses)* … or you can get a real one (technically illegal, but you’re too small fry for anyone to care)

In build time constrained products there is a precise schedule that every software engineer should follow. 1. Updates from your overnight builds. 2. New work. 3. Lunch 4. Review/fix your work after builds. 5. Code review teammates work. 6. Meetings. 7. Patches. 8. Trigger overnight builds.

Even if there is a path around each little delay counts twice per trip. Unless they’re running 24/7 at whatever their cycle duration is you can use that to tip two round trips to 1.5 trips per day, gaining more than the precise delay.
