Progress on the painting, Literacy Parts the Clouds of Ignorance. What the photo does not capture is the golden shimmer of the sky and fire. I will post a video when completed to show this off properly. ❤️‍🔥

In in progress painting of a cat riding a winged dog over an industrial city with houses and factories. The cat wears a flowing scarf and holds up a fiery torch in one paw. In the other paw the cat holds open a book, its pages facing towards the viewer with pages that read "workers of all nations unite". In each corner is a star. Text at the bottom reads: "Literacy Parts the Clouds of Ignorance."

Photo of my fluffy white cat Francie meowing at the camera with her little pink, toothless mouth open looking like the cutest lil gremlin. The words art show are written in sloppy digital crayon above and below her face.

"Literacy Parts the Clouds of Ignorance" painted version in the works. The yellow sky and fire will have an iridescent gold look when done, that is the plan. The border will have painted artwork too.

"Red Paw Bats'Em off the High Shelf" (2019). This one goes a little under the radar as a cat poster because it is abstract but the red cat is there, batting reaction down. The artwork is based on the famous constructivist lithograph by El Lissitzky, created during the civil war in 1919.

A cat poster in the style of an early 20th century constructivist propaganda poster by El Lissitzky. A large red paw shaped like a triangle hits a large white spot on a black geometric plane that roughly divides the picture in two. Other triangles and lines near the large rectangle give the impression of a cat face. Geometric shapes spill to the sides of the white circle as if tumbling down from a high place. Written across the poster in various font types are the words "BATS'EM OFF THE HIGH SHELF." Signed N.Nun.

Kittens should be careful what they imagine reading by firefly light in the Gloomwood. Don't let your imagination run away with you; you might need to run from your imagination!

An ink drawing of two anthropomorphic kittens in a tent. Laying in the tent with a books open before them, it looks like they are reading a scary tale from a large book. The book and kitten faces are illuminated by a jar filled with fireflies. In the background is a pine forest illuminated by a moon with trees obscured in mist and shadow. Emerging from the mist is a silhouette of a antlered beast looking similar to the illustration in the open book. Signed NNun

Cat Star Union (2018). The design of this one is based on an iconic 1960's space poster. My iteration featuring, of course, a very enthusiastic cosmonaut cat. How would space exploration be different in a different form of society?

A cat poster in the style of a 1960s soviet space poster. A cat dressed as a cosmonaut / astronaut holds overhead a hammer and sickle. Behind the figure is space with shooting stars representing four ships sent into space and a globe. Text encircling the globe reads: "United in Friendship to New Rising Stars." Below in larger, bold text reads "CAT STAR UNION". signed N.Nun.

Someone is inevitably going to post about how their teacher actually tried to murder them with a book once, so I just want to get ahead of that and say, "if you read more, you would understand this generalized post is not about your highly specific situation I couldn't possibly know anything about."

I'm pleased to share this new paper, "The myth of 'catch-up' development". The paper assesses trends in core-periphery inequality since 1960, and draws several main conclusions: 🧵https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/13563467.2026.2659076

The myth of catch-up development: trends in core–periphery inequality from 1960 to 2023

The conventional narrative in international development holds that poorer countries are “catching up” with richer countries through the process of capitalist growth. This paper assesses this claim ...

Thames Water claims it is going bankrupt, again, with £20bn in debts. So it needs bailing out, again, so it can hike its bills by 40% in April, again. Don't, let them go bankrupt. As soon as they do it all becomes Government property with no debts. Nationalisation for free.
