Minneapolitan - over here in NE. I like art, politics, books and TV. Those are the things you'll find me posting about. 📺🎨📖 Old woman. Possibly damp. Faster than an old woman should be.
I painted this protea! Acrylic on canvas, 9x12 I LOVE proteas and can't seem to stop painting them. #painting #acrylicpainting #artistsofbluesky
Great thread on our crop art! Unfortunately the fair just removed a piece from the exhibition at the request of the artist, who has been doxed and and is receiving death threats from the snowflakes that make up the right.
Crop art at the Minnesota State Fair! It is what it says it is - art made from various parts of crops, primarily seeds, lentils, and grains, occasionally leaves or flowers. For any non-Minnesotans viewing this, I'll start with mostly less political pieces. It's harder than you might think.
My painting is up at the Rejected show at the Burl Art Gallery in lowertown St. Paul! Stop by and see it if you're in the neighborhood!
I'm sad that my painting did not make it into the (very competitive) MN State Fair Fine Arts competition, but happy to report it was accepted into the Burl Gallery's 2026 Rejected show! This is "His Beak Can Hold More Than His Belly Can" and it's 16x20 oil on canvas. #oilpainting #MNLocalArt
This—from an Angie Craig ad on Facebook—is the most deranged way to present that data imaginable. A. It’s sorted by the date the poll was published, rather than the end date of the poll. Craig being within three is in fact the second-oldest poll but shown as the newest.
the crypto industry descended on Minnesota and set a truly astonishing pile of money on fire
Highly encourage everyone to read the book it's based on (Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella) if you haven't already. It's a beautiful book.
Just watched Field of Dreams for the first time as an adult. There is A LOT more going on there than I remembered from seeing it as a kid. What a film.
Immediately skipping Gen X as a bit is absolutely nailing it.

As anyone in publishing will tell you, women do not resist reading books by men, but men will often dismiss books by women. This is not a publishing problem or a failure to target men. It's a misogyny problem.
The fact that the Democratic senators are agreeing to a continuing resolution until Dec 11th with NO compromises for them is absolute political malpractice and head scratching. Why not even try to ban like…. The arch? Anything!
Something a little different in my flower series. This is acrylic on watercolor paper, 12x16. #painting #acrylicpainting
Gotta shut down the factory that makes this kinda guy
Anyway, if you liked Kyrsten Sinema, you'll LOVE Angie Craig
Planning my Halloween costume and was thinking about being the sea hag from Widow's Bay and then I remembered! There is also a sea hag referenced in the Righteous Gemstones! Combining my love of Halloween with my love of TV 🖤🧡
Give the man a paintbrush and he'll tell us everything we need to know.
oh, man, this is great. finally a Senate candidate without a bunch of skeletons in his closet. hear he did really well with the big storm a couple years back
Graham Planter strikes me as a heavy drinker with anger issues and I worry about every woman in his orbit right now.
Not a fan of the summer of clouds and storms (only very occasionally interrupted by very short periods of deadly heat and humidity)
UPDATE — KENTUCKY’s @GovAndyBeshear: “I am requesting Sen. McConnell provide an update on his health status. Allowing speculation to continue in the media is not fair to the Senator or to Kentuckians.” Mitch has been hospitalized since June 14th. Read it: www.kentucky.gov/Pages/Activi...

We should probably only elect women to public office for awhile until we figure everything out
As violent crime in America falls, especially in urban areas of the Northeast and Midwest, homicides perpetrated by police officers skyrocket and American police establish themselves as the most violent part of US society. It seems to be a function of the legal doctrine of impunity.
American police killings are rising, even as murder rates fall
More aggressive cops are less restrained

"At the core of MAGA is this bizarre kind of howling emptiness. There’s just nothing really there except for Trump’s megalomania and his self-enrichment and his absolutely bottomless need for attention and adulation—and he never gets enough anyway." trib.al/SuixUlP

Watching the trailer, I feel like Backrooms could maybe be a mashup of Skinamarink and House of Leaves, and I am totally here for that.
