First of all: more NEON HOPE! 🥰 We didn't make what the #boardgame industry told us to make. Instead we made the game we wanted to exist in the world. And now we are hoping that enough people want more of it – so we can make more! 💚

Also, Also Francesco Grothe and @nerdmeetsyou.bsky.social have made a very ambitious choice to make a game like Neon Hope as their first design. So far it has been great and we're watching with great interest what they'll be working on in the future. ♥️

It's insanity: Every time I do anything with my business, I get contacted by new scammes that are specialized for this very spcific situation. There is a scam for every stage of crowdfunding, for every aspect of running an online store. For social media and for manufacturing. You cannot escape it.

😍 #neonhope #brettspiele

This doesn't really address what the follow up campaign will look like and I hope the answer isn't "more KS exclusives and stretch goals". I say this not as a dig at Plaid Hat but to highlight how absurd the Kickstarter ecosystem has become If you're not a micro indie project or giant boxapalooza.

While we hit our funding goal at a decent rate, almost as soon as we did, the pledges stopped. Another 24 hours passed, and the needle didn't move. Of course, we had questions since we've run several campaigns now and this experience is completely new to us. What we found was that our visually striking campaign was drawing in lots of people, but they weren't pledging. While there wasn't a ton of feedback, one thing we heard on several occasions was, "Why pledge now? Why not just wait for retail?" For everyone here who's backed, you already know the answer to that question, but we must acknowledge the simple truth that along the way, we could have done better.

We decided to cancel The Monolith, then come back quickly. Our official statement is in the link below, but simply put, we could have limped over the finish line, but it would have been such a disservice to a game worthy of so much more.
