📣 My lab at NYU currently has two open post-doc positions. We are interested in understanding perception, thinking, and hallucinations. We employ a range of cutting-edge techniques in human neuroscience (e.g., 7T fMRI, MEG, iEEG/DES) and computational approaches (e.g., DNN modeling).

1/ Pleased to share my latest preprint: The Body Problem: Cautionary Notes on the Embodied Self. Like many others, I've been fascinated by embodiment research the past few years, but at the same time sat very uncomfortably with the term "embodied self." 🧵https://osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/jg2nr_v1

I am recruiting a postdoctoral researcher and a PhD student, funded by a new ERC grant. The grant focuses on the role of the hippocampus in visual perception, using 7T fMRI (hippocampal subfields, cortical layers) and MEG+iEEG. The intended start dates for both positions are in early 2027. 🧠🟦 1/3

So glad to finally share work years in the making! What started with fMRI effect size benchmarks ended up showing that conventional study planning detects ~half of expected brain effects, suggesting more distributed processes than the lit shows (+ new methods for mass univ effect/power estimation)

Wow, that went fast! The PhD position is already filled - still accepting applications for the postdoc position! Feeling sorry for all the really promising candidates we had to turn down - the quality of applications has been unusually high in this round!

Idk if this matters to anyone but a reviewer recently dinged me for using gendered language in an ms. Please note that some of us were taught to use she/her in writing to designate unknown gender as a means of redressing the default he/him. Tysm
