So glad to finally share work years in the making! What started with fMRI effect size benchmarks ended up showing that conventional study planning detects ~half of expected brain effects, suggesting more distributed processes than the lit shows (+ new methods for mass univ effect/power estimation)

Johnson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Sports Studies at Texas Southern University. His research focuses on community-based behavioral interventions to promote physical activity, cognitive health, and health equity among underserved populations, with a particular emphasis on resistance training engagement in older adults. Dr. Johnson has completed advanced research training through NIH-supported programs, including the PRIDE Behavioral Medicine and Sleep Disorders Program, the NIMHD RCMI TEAMRCMI Mentorship Program, and the Research Career Institute in the Mental Health of Aging (RCI-MHARI). His work integrates behavioral science, culturally responsive intervention design, and community engagement strategies to address disparities in health outcomes. Dr. Johnson’s current research aims to develop scalable interventions that improve resistance training participation and support healthy aging in high-risk communities.

Do you censor high motion frames in fMRI? In two preprints by @twktan.bsky.social @mandymejia.bsky.social, we find that we may be censoring too much! doi.org/10.64898/202... arxiv.org/html/2603.07... Strict censoring leads to worse personalized TMS targets than no censoring, even with high motion!
