First-summer female Subalpine Warbler trapped at the Obs and just released in the Obs Quarry - if we had to put money on it it's a Western but tail mostly v worn juvenile so no help!

It just wouldn't be lesvos without the clanking of an Olive tree warbler usually well hidden amongst the olive groves,this individual was using a dead tree to sing from chasing off all competition
I saw my first Spotted Sandpiper on the shores of Buttermere in the Lake District 9 years ago - this one on the Ouse near Southease was rather more co-operative & the weather was better! I spent a very pleasant hour watching this smart American vagrant wader foraging in warm sunshine. #BirdingUK/IRE

We lost a birding legend today, my uncle Gary (Messenbird) passed away after several health issues this morning, a Beddington and Surrey legend and a big influence on my birding life, something I will be forever grateful for ! He will be missed 🪶

Spent the majority of the day on the road today, noticed good numbers of Redwing around especially between Brighton and Gatwick , perhaps we had a fall last night
First visit of the year to Staines res...Water levels still dropping. Lesser and Greater Scaups showed well at the tower end, upto 3 Great-northern Divers and a good scattering of Black-necked Grebes made it a good morning...bitterly cold

Yellow-browed Bunting trapped, ringed and released at the Swannery. It's flown to the hedge which runs alongside the Swannery grounds and the bird may be viewable from the permissive path heading west from Grove Lane.
