Even as an non-disabled driver who owns a car, I hate it too. And it makes me the way I am. I wish I could only use my car for choice things - road trips, getting lumber, picking up dirt for the garden, etc. but instead I have to use it all the time for everyday tasks. Which is bonkers to me.

I'd love to see them remove two street parking lanes and replace them with bike parking, then remove two traffic lanes and replace them with trees and walking paths. Taking away those four lanes still leaves two traffic lanes, which is plenty for this area!
