The creative industries employ more than 2million people, contribute around £130bn annually to the UK economy, or over 5% of GDP, while growing at double the UK average, but sure let’s cut government funding for arts education, that’ll help our ailing economy I’m sure.

GOD a good piece about fic in a mainstream(ish) pub???? "How might we discuss fanfiction's influence on published fiction in a way that acknowledges that we get something out of fanfiction, and its related forms? Can we reach a healthier vision of the relationship between fiction and desire?"

Do you ever wonder about game fandom and different types of fans? I was reflecting a lot on gatekeeping and different play styles lately, thanks to Silksong. I thought I'd bundle my ideas in a blog, and made a typology to go along with it! (Shaw!) #gamestudies nicollelamerichs.com/2026/01/28/s...

I truly believe that despite the seemingly bottomless evil in our fascist enemies, they are few compared to those who love their community and their neighbors. Most people want peace, want equality and fairness. Most people want to make the world better. And I think we will.

Today I reviewed abstracts for a conference that I can't attend, but deeply love. I'm so happy that I said yes and made time for this, when it could have been so easy to decline. It was so inspiring to read the submissions and an honor to review the solid work being done in my field! 💜 #academicsky
