7 Things About Afghanistan the U.S. Wants You to Forget, Five Years After Kabul Fell

America promised not to forget Afghans who worked with its troops, reporters, and diplomats. Now, hundreds of thousands are stranded, refugee routes have been dismantled, and the country is in chaos.

This entire disgusting situation with Arday has shown the horrible priorities of a society built for the ruling class. Our press isn't free, and it is used solely and exclusively to pursue the interests of the ruling class which owns it.

An Israeli strike destroyed two central medicine warehouses at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, including critical supplies and equipment for kidney dialysis on Saturday.

Hospital director Raed Hussein told Drop Site’s Abdel Qader Sabbah the attack would severely undermine the hospital's ability to provide care, saying, “The damage is even greater, the disaster is even more severe, and it will make it much harder for us to respond in the coming period.”

The strike also destroyed tents sheltering displaced Palestinian families, along with their food, water, and belongings. “Today, we have no shelter. I don't even know what to say anymore,” said Fatima Sharab.

“The mattresses, blankets we'd managed to gather after losing them 15 times, they're gone again. What is left after this?”

“What a lamentable thing it is that men should blame the gods and regard us as the source of their troubles, when it is their own transgressions which bring them suffering that was not their destiny.” ~ Homer, ‘The Odyssey’ (c. 8th century BC) #Sculpture, Louis Navarrete.

“When a person has been permanently disfigured...the goal of surgery isn’t to make them look how they did before, which is often impossible, but to restore a kind of recognition—to make them feel once again that their body belongs to them.” —Mary Turfah

It's always tease, tease, tease You're happy when I'm on my knees One day it's fine, and next it's black So if you want me off your back Well, come on and let me know Should I stay, or should I go?

The phrase "sanctions" sanitizes what is actually happening. In Cuba, a humanitarian crisis is unfolding. Essential medicines are becoming unavailable, infant health outcomes are worsening, and more families are struggling to secure adequate nutrition.
