When I first heard of this story I assumed that the animals were unwell, or at the very least there was a false positive - but no, apparently it's perfectly acceptable for government officers to stand at the side of the road & shoot healthy cows now. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Fivemiletown: External review into shooting of more than 50 cattle
The cull took place in land near Fivemiletown in County Tyrone last month.

Have stuck the FPGA Video Experimenter Card in the crate for a bit. It's taking serial in, drawing circles on the live video, and outputting as analogue. Already identified a few more issues that will need to be rectified in upcoming versions. Not least that the LEDs on the board are too bright.
Standard reminder that the BBC's linear channels are in fact "digital", have been entirely since 2012, and lots of money was spent telling audiences this.
The Video Experimenter Card continues to become more ugly - but also continues to yield promising results, exciting rabbit holes, and additions to the infinite Projects List.
Very quick demo of a Frozen Picture Alarm I am developing with my FPGA experimenter board. It performs a running average of the Luma and compares it with previous fields. If it hasn't changed enough it will increment the green bar. Once full this can give an alarm, for example.
Almost 10k people have watched this, making it my highest performing video ever so far. But don't worry, I won't be making a habit of talking politics.
This, incidentally, is why I get grumpy when people say various things about TX errors: SOMEONE ON SOCIAL MEDIA: "What a stupid mistake, they don't care about the output any more!" REAL LIFE: That error is the subject of a report which is still being updated a year or more after it happened.
I feel this is a particularly grim example of the traditional shocked face YouTube thumbnail. Go and stick your head down the nearest toilet, the pair of you.
🟦 CLEAN FEED | The late BBC One news will certainly be late tonight because of a certain football match. EPG data currently suggesting 11.30pm start but likely to be later than that.
Isn't this crazy. 5000+ views on Pages From Ceefax in just the past 48 hours. I wonder how many watch "This Is BBC Two" these nights...
My latest addition to the FPGA Video Bodge Board is an SDI Deserialiser. Haven't done anything terribly exciting just yet but it does mean one can draw stuff onto live video and output as analogue, etc. Next I'll have to design a Serialiser!
Seeing record-breaking (for me) audiences on PFC this past few days. www.youtube.com/@AvroVulcanX...
I have zero interest in Football but I fully support bringing a Vulcan & a few Harriers out to the England v. Argentina match. You know. Just as a reminder...
Fell into a teletext hole thanks to @nmsni.co.uk 's most recent YouTube video () and I suddenly remembered a long forgotten memory when I noticed that a text service's clock once looked different. I remember emailing the editor who was all "erm, the computer broke". And now I know why

For a country full of gun nutters, Americans aren't very good shots, are they?
I note today the news is all about some singer's $20m wedding, and I just have to wonder who actually cares..???
I am looking for good quality SDV->CVBS and CVBS->SDV cards - I have looked for Vistek, Crystal Vision, Nevion and Evertz crates and I can find one or two crates/cards of each... I really don't want to end up with forty different incompatible crates/cards - if you happen to have one please shout!
First world problem here right, why does Ubereats make you decide on a tip to leave before you even place the order. You know? Like if I'd known you were going to piss around for 40 minutes and then deliver my chips cold and ice cream melted, it hardly deserves an extra few quid for a good job?
