I think it's nice to have Nola make the first start after a sort of lackluster deadline.
Phillies trial ballooning "the worst defensive team you could imagine" is going to look like a genius move when they trade for a player we all instinctively hate but who makes the team make more sense.
If he successfully does this against you, you should be forced to retire.

Alec Bohm running a sub-.700 OPS on the last day of July while batting cleanup and also playing bad defense feels insufficiently discussed.
Thinking a QB who has made two Super Bowls in his first five seasons as a starter--winning one and performing unbelievably in both--is good is "cognitive rigidity." That position is demonstrably correct because believing otherwise is proof of cognitive liquidity.
In 20 years, I think I’ll look back at this time period and really wonder about 2 things 1. Why did people like Trump? 2. Why did sports writers hate Jalen Hurts?

Guys I would consider to be the Phillies manager the rest of the season: Dusty Wathan, Alex Cora, Carlos Mendoza, Rob Thomson, and John Tortorella.
Don Mattingly is--in my estimation--a worse manager than Ryne Sandberg and Pete Mackanin. I truly cannot believe that I am writing those words but I am.
Did he leave Luzardo in too long? Yes. Was it foreseeable that he needed to have someone up for Otto Lopez? Yes. Did he get someone who made sense warm? No. But do the guys like him? Doesn't seem like it.
I cannot wait for the return of Nick Sirianni's sane and sensible decision making.

A four year extension would run from 2028-2031. The guaranteed money typically includes the current deal, so that's effectively guaranteeing 2026-2029, with two unguaranteed years in 2030 and 2031.

The deal can max out at $160 million, making the two-time Pro Bowler the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history.
While I would like a full Jalen Carter breakout, this extension will be worth it if he intercepts even one attempted spike by an opponent.
