In honor of #ADA36, who is a person with a disability in history most people don’t know but should?

Climate change forces populations out of their homes. It feeds "immigration crises." Fascists use immigration as a lever into power, because fearmongering works. Fascists also want to be able to pollute and exploit without restraint. They will exacerbate climate change for multiple reasons.

This is a useful and sensible thread, but also, the fact that the world burns every summer and at the same time multiple areas of the world are ditching their commitments to tackle climate change, is beyond unhinged. Don't let politics kill us through short-term ist populism.

i've outrun more than a few wildfires in my time and i thought of typing up some advice on doing that but honestly what can i even say because. this many wildfires in regions that do not normally get wildfires like this is a direct result of bad policies and failure to act on climate change.

The American punditocracy really will construct entire alternate realities just to avoid engaging with basic human rights arguments.

Why is Kemi Badenoch never asked about the hefty funding the Conservative party has taken from the oil industry and its lobby groups whenever she talks about her decision to scrap her commitment to Net Zero?

It just feels like everything is so ridiculous and chaotic that we’re all accepting far more than we actually should.

This mentions Brexit as the starting point. Until the UK reckons with the role Brexit had in enabling the far right, things like this will happen more and get much worse. I don’t know how many more times one can say this but we are *a lot* further down a very dark road than most people realise.
