Years ago, we supported the huge CHPE transmission project to bring hydropower from Quebec to NYC. It’s great to see it’s now up and running, lowering both electricity prices and pollution. 🎉 800 megawatts of clean energy is flowing into NYC’s electric grid atm, enough to power 800k homes. 👏

Mayor Mamdani should close the REBNY-created loophole in our Green New Deal law, Local Law 97. Closing this loophole would help prevent pollution, protect thousands of future jobs and lower utility bills through energy efficiency. Fact sheet below.

Thanks to Speaker Menin, Councilmenbers Gennaro, Marte, Aviles & others, NYC’s budget has small $ to start a program: ✅ cut energy bills ✅ create good, union jobs ✅ reduce pollution $2m, but not $10m. Could be the start of something truly great if @mayor.nyc.gov gets on board!

The military may be US imperialism's most powerful force, but a close second is vulture funds. Hedge funds + private-equity firms buy up the global South's debts, then demand repayment in ruinous ways. Half of these contracts are governed by NY law. It is literally up to New Yorkers to stop this.
