Years ago, we supported the huge CHPE transmission project to bring hydropower from Quebec to NYC. It’s great to see it’s now up and running, lowering both electricity prices and pollution. 🎉 800 megawatts of clean energy is flowing into NYC’s electric grid atm, enough to power 800k homes. 👏

📸 after a meeting in Bedford Park in the Bronx to give advice to homeowners on saving money, keeping your home. Utility bills was one of the major items. We took a photo to show support for Heat Pumps for All and a #GasFreeNYC @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social let’s get it going!
Mayor Mamdani should close the REBNY-created loophole in our Green New Deal law, Local Law 97. Closing this loophole would help prevent pollution, protect thousands of future jobs and lower utility bills through energy efficiency. Fact sheet below.
Hochul’s order, which is much weaker than the data center moratorium the legislature passed, attempts to make it look like she’s acting as the election looms. She’s doing everything she can, politically, to protect tech billionaires, developers & AI. Sign the bill, Hochul!

Thanks to Speaker Menin, Councilmenbers Gennaro, Marte, Aviles & others, NYC’s budget has small $ to start a program: ✅ cut energy bills ✅ create good, union jobs ✅ reduce pollution $2m, but not $10m. Could be the start of something truly great if @mayor.nyc.gov gets on board!

This Eric Adams regulatory loophole allows billionaire owners to evade reducing 85% of the pollution coming from their office buildings. It’s REBNY’s play. If this real estate loophole isn’t closed, it will cost thousands of good jobs, raise energy bills & increase pollution. 🧵
Climate experts worry the launch of renewable energy credits could set back the city’s decarbonization goals, saying property owners could use them to offset their buildings' emissions in lieu of making energy efficiency upgrades. citylimits.org/potential-lo...

‼️STATEMENT: New York Communities for Change Celebrates Victory of @cct4nyc.bsky.social Christian Celeste Tate and @eonforassembly.bsky.social Eon Huntley in State Assembly Races, Defeating Entrenched Incumbents and Delivering a Mandate for Working New Yorkers
@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social Hakeem Jeffries talks about his constituents as “team gentrification”. He should fight for working people, not landlords.
Reminder to friends: Z won't be able to deliver his agenda unless the state legislature will hold the line against Governor Hochul and force her to #TaxTheRich. To do that, we need to win at least 7 Leftist Assembly primaries today. So if you can join us in the field anytime before 9pm, please do.
NYC, today is Primary Day. Polls are open NOW and close at 9 PM tonight. Be sure to get your vote in before then. For your polling site and more information, go to vote.nyc. Make your voice heard, New York City.

@nychange.bsky.social's been doing the hard groundwork in Southeast Queens of organizing— • Tenants; • Black + Brown homeowners who now risk displacement; and • Neighbors banding together against environmental racism. Their endorsement of @osterforus.bsky.social means a lot and matters materially.
I am grateful to earn the endorsement of New York Communities for Change. This organization has been on the ground fighting for homeowners- fighting deed theft and tax liens- and fighting for ice accountability. I look forward to organizing with them in the future.
Statement on @nyccomptroller.bsky.social @marklevinenyc.bsky.social announced review: “New York City’s massive pension funds are far too dependent on BlackRock and State Street, the world’s dirtiest money managers. NYC should prudently move its considerable business to cleaner firms.” Link below

NYCC is happy to have been part of forcing this guy off the JPM Chase bank board, which is in this story. One of humanity’s greatest criminals. He should have rotted in prison in The Hague but at least he faced that small measure of accountability. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
The military may be US imperialism's most powerful force, but a close second is vulture funds. Hedge funds + private-equity firms buy up the global South's debts, then demand repayment in ruinous ways. Half of these contracts are governed by NY law. It is literally up to New Yorkers to stop this.
