heading back from Berlin tomorrow and had bring my bike from my apt in the NE to its winter storage in the SW. Of course I got lost a few times on the way and ended up backtracking, turned around, upside down, roll-wandering through the city for 2 hrs and it was not a bad way to end the visit.

Doug Ford doesn’t know about or care about what works or doesn’t work in city-building. He’s fine with hurting the city (and by extension the provincial economy), killing people, wasting public money, and making congestion worse. It’s about ego, ideology & red meat wedge issues for suburban voters.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow says the province walked away from compromises to restore traffic lanes while keeping bike lanes on major streets.

Just back from a new music concert and they handed out ear plugs. This was definitely a rough one. Final movement consisted of 6 percussionists, 4 additional with gongs placed in different parts of the hall, and some vocal sounds. Those percussionists really got a workout.

It's been disheartening to see climate change be a known issue in the public consciousness my whole life while governments have just sat on their hands. It's infuriating to see this happening and the government, on the federal and provincial level, continue to go backwards on climate policy.

Global warming is set to cross 1.5°C, pushing climate risks and impacts to increasingly dangerous heights, a new UNEP report warns.   Predicted impacts include extreme weather and threats to human health and economies.

One of the things that comes out in the book is how the Fords were Trump before Trump - as if they wrote a playbook of sorts. Why Doug's turn against Trump of late rings false: decades of Trump-like behaviour + support of Trump himself. Don't get that be laundered away (note to opposition parties)

East Berlin, Unter den Linden/Friedrichstrasse, 11 September 1959. I post photographs taken on my many Berlin visits in the 1950s and 1960s. 180 unique historic street images of East and West Berlin are in my book "Berlin in the Cold War" (Amberley Publishing). #Berlin #DDR #GDR

Doug Ford is sole-sourcing Ontario teachers’ entire classroom supplies fund to an American-owned chain in the middle of a trade war. The Premier has big words and big signs, but he could cancel the Staples deal and open the fund to local Canadian businesses instead.
