In this study, we uncover the senolytic mechanism of conjugated polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), specifically α eleostearic acid (α-ESA), demonstrating that these compounds eliminate senescent cells by inducing ferroptosis, rather than classical programmed cell death pathways.

“NIH researchers found that exercise triggers mitochondrial DNA release in muscle, activating immune pathways that boost fat-burning fibers and fight obesity—but this same response may worsen fatigue in long COVID and #ME/CFS through immune overactivation.” www.cell.com/trends/endoc...

Mitochondrial innate immune signaling in skeletal muscle adaptation to exercise

Exercise-induced inflammation is regarded as a response to muscle damage from mechanical stress, but controlled immune signaling can be beneficial by promoting metabolic adaptation which, for example,...

🪰 The next step is to carry out a more extensive search in the drosophila fly genome. In the long-term, this knowledge could be used to increase the success rate of assisted reproduction treatments and to develop drugs to tackle aneuploidy, which is a characteristic of many tumours.

Had the pleasure of presenting my PhD research at the yICSA Symposium at the Karolinska Institute! It was a great experience to share my work on cellular senescence and connect with so many scientists.
