I really want to know what goes through a driver’s head when they double park like this when there’s a ton of curb space. Just utter laziness and selfishness that should be punished by towing and impoundment of their car.

Just utterly idiotic. For one, you don’t trust your customers to budget properly, yet also the ability exists for OMNY to offer both pass products and fare caps at the same time so customers have an option. Plenty of transit systems do this! Why can’t ours?

What a crazy thing to say. Has Janno Lieber never paid rent or a mortgage? Has he never gotten a regular paycheck? Paying weekly or monthly upfront for a core service that you use regularly is a basic fact of adulthood. Creating an explosion of fare evasion because nobody has prepaid passes...

The MTA made up the "day laborer who can't afford a weekly/monthly." People get paid biweekly, rent and utilities are due monthly, and the unbanked know how to budget. They raised fares on the most loyal riders and made fare evasion a lot worse, and they're trying to deflect with Woke 1.0 bullshit.

www.amny.com/news/mta-omn... Lieber also pushed back on reports that some riders are lamenting the MTA’s elimination of the 30day unlmtd MetroCard. Lieber insisted that while some riders may be “nostalgic” for the old system, it was not fair to those who could not afford to pay large sums upfront.“

LIRR will pay a dozen-plus employees to stand around and punch tickets at NY-Penn Station but can't figure out a way to run enough trains so people don't have to stand at 11pm on a school night. Completely backwards.

Really frustrating that nobody is talking about this. New York's new surveillance law will go into effect in a few months, requiring things like government identification or biometric face scans in order to use social media platforms (like Bluesky). gothamist.com/news/ny-soci...

I’ve never bought super-expensive sunglasses because I have a tendency to lose them. I bought a $16 pair of drugstore sunglasses last week that I’ve been complemented on five times, further proving that I will never buy super-expensive sunglasses.
