The TV show The Middleman would do things like randomly have a shirtless Mark Dacascos fight dozens of Luchadors and use something called the Wu-Han Thumb of Death on their leader. We used to be a proper country.

It’s not a revelation that the president of the USA is one of the most prolific white-collar criminals on Earth, but what is slightly galling is that nobody seems to care all that much.

How is it that this story still hasn't appeared in the New York Times?

The president is a rapist and a pedophile who ran teen beauty pageants and was best friends with Epstein and he’s fine with men beating their wives and he lost a war and raised all your prices and stole billions of dollars but 34% of Americans still think he’s peachy keen because they’re racist.

and here’s the thing - am i anti- technology? no. some of my LEAST favorite filmmakers fall into “we must do everything practical” category (i wish i could condense that into some sort of tenet or something). i don’t care how you got the shot. i care about whether you engaged me as a human being.

i believe that the the entire "binge watch" model of releasing television series is based on a faulty premise, and that faulty premise has significantly devaluated television as an art form. stick with me on this one...

But I also think binge drops (versus the months-long consistency of a network TV sked, where fall-spring your show pops up once a week) end up hampering the work of building an emotional investment from an audience where you WANT to see the next season (which comes only 3 months later anyway!)

Streamers aren't tied to the deadlines of a primetime network schedule. Maybe that's not a good thing.

TV writer-producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach says one of the main problems resulting from streaming is a lack of economic and logistical pressure to make shows on a regular schedule.
