I think this incident is literally a lab leak and we are lucky that its goals were so narrow. Is anyone seriously thinking about NIST standards for isolating these envs?

Oh, this is cool! New rust-analyzer command. "rust-analyzer: Evaluate Predicate" Then type in the type and bound and it'll tell you whether it holds. So, you don't have to go through source code anymore. #rustlang
Lots of ink spilled on "Loop engineering", but no one seems to connect it to its much older name: Cybernetics. Maybe by the year's end, we'll recognize that it was all Control Theory engineering all along.

I don't believe that ideas are permanently contaminated by their source. But since "no technical solution to social problems" is substantively a dubious claim, it seems worth remembering that its initial application was incorrect.

So Claude Mythos was, indeed, not marketing hype. Remember this is a general purpose model that just happens to be good at finding exploits because good models are good at lots of things. Expect similar from OpenAI & Google. And from open models in 8 months. hacks.mozilla.org/2026/05/behi...

A very well reasoned article. I believe I am still in the center, leaning optimistic. I started using AI coding agents in July. They worked for tedious, but mechanical refactors. The tech has improved significantly since. I use coding agents for ~80% of Toasty work now: github.com/tokio-rs/toa...

Yeah so my takeaway from this is that any software written in C or C++ is just doomed and will need to be replaced ASAP. People may soon be incentivized to make radical switches that would otherwise have zero momentum. e.g. Niche formally proven OSes.
