I've heard that the GC event in Belfast encouraged people to join trans supportive groups in order to change 'hearts and minds' from within. Organisations need to take note that this is most certainly a problem and it needs nipped in the bud.

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

I am in the know when it comes to Paris. Nobody can deny this.
Very good exhibition on borders and border regimes at the Cité des sciences in Paris. Fascinating to learn about Border Forensics, a group that investigates border violence, and about the sand walls and policing or borders between the Maghreb and the Sahel.

After 10 years at the helm of Irish Studies at QUB, with various ups and downs over the last decade, I’m handing over to our new leadership team from Monday. Many thanks to Peter and @siobhraaiken.bsky.social for stepping up to take forward Irish Studies in Belfast! www.qub.ac.uk/schools/Iris...

I always wondered what it would take for the Telegraph to decide there might be a downside to climate breakdown. Well, now we know. Even so, this article manages not to mention it.
Very brave of Uefa to show Ireland that it is actually good to boycott football matches.
really nice for UEFA to take a principled stand against Infantino while still admitting a member association representing a state committing genocide
Statement from Féile on twitter saying they are "delighted at today's outcome at the High Court...a vindication of Féile's position in standing up for those who are marginalised...(the) desicion to withdraw this event from our programme stands."

Paul Murphy used his 'guile' and 'experience'; Sean Cavanagh's foul called 'diabolical in its cynicism'. Maybe other factors are at work when it comes to Tyrone
Can only imagine that the same amount of vitriol about Sean Cavanagh in 2013 will be direct Paul Murphy's way there. An absolutely cynical pull down on O'Donoghue that denied a clear goalscoring chance and conned the ref
So Irish Examiner journalist Alison O’Reilly hears a solicitor, Gavin Booth say that the suspect in the car bomb case ‘spent time in Saoradh.’ She, being kind, misheard him and reports it as time in Syria. The misreporting (still up, btw) goes around the world and media shrugs. Bizarre
Mayo 4 Sam AND Grand Theft Auto 6 in the same year. There’s a lad in Crossmolina with a PS5, a genie lamp, and one wish left.
Absolute chaos from start to finish. Mayo playing the GAA version of Gegenpress and should have been well out of sight at the end. Cinematic

So we have male politicians, demanding inclusion based on ‘women discussing their rights’ - not supposing that the other women participating in the festival already have their reasons for not sharing their priorities. Because we all know the members of the ‘sex class’ all think with the one mind.

I get it’s a wide bunch of people who have ‘opinions’ on platforming transphobes. Some are genuinely not well informed, others idiots, some abhorrent, and then the gleeful Far Right-opportunists. But just to be clear : trans rights are not a ‘debate’ subject, you don’t debate people’s humanity.
This whole debacle also reinforces to me how unBritish I feel as a person from the North of Ireland. White women colonial ideas of feminism don’t fit with the ideals of a festival like Féile, which was built to proclaim the humanity of West Belfast in the face of British est dehumanizing.
It's called The Humanities and it's being systematically dismantled due to HE cuts. 😡
