When I say this a lot of people think I'm talking about anti-vaxxers and qanon but I also mean that a lot of left/lib/progressive people were so excited for "back to normal" that Biden could end covid-crisis-era social programs like medicaid and child tax credit expansions with no pushback
The craziest thing about this is that the totally incorrect estimates are *average* estimates which STILL come out so high even though probably like 20-30% of people know that there are so few Jews in the US or whatever

Can we PLEASE be done with "but you get [TRT/breast implants/...], checkmate transphobes"? This is the retrenchment of the cisness of the military, kicking out openly trans people having not been enough. They don't see gender as plastic, they see it as fragile, and TRT as strengthening, not change

I liked Fall’s story a lot & thought it was astute social commentary *but* I completely disagree that the thing in the quote is what’s happening here. The military has not accepted plastic gender, this policy has little or nil to do with trans people per se or with the work of queer activists.(1/2)
