I shouldn't let it get to me this badly but my productivity (already in shambles) is still a wreck w/ this stupid tReeaction (thank you @pugetopia.bsky.social) crap. Tens of thousands in grants for groups I love, gone because they aren't c3. And these jerks flout the rules to be exclusionary.

Tree Action Seattle has been told what the rules are — we know because we spent hours talking to them about campaign and non profit rules in 2021-2023 where we carefully explained to Sandy what a c3 and c4 are. So they can’t pretend to be ignorant of the rules they are flaunting.

As someone whose actual hobby is "paperwork and compliance help for c4 orgs", I wasn't prepared for how much this is going to take me to get over. Every group I've volunteered with stayed as a c4 *specifically* for advocacy and endorsement...and then this just kinda...happens.

Tree Action Seattle, a sponsored organization of the Seattle Parks Foundation - a 501(c)3 org - put up an Instagram post last night promoting candidates who had been endorsed by TreePAC. I do not believe that little disclaimer at the bottom is going to cut it here.

If, like me, you work for Gigantic Megacorp, you can almost certainly do some Wealth Redistribution(tm) through your company's charitable / giving portal. This often includes donated time so if you can't do money, you can do minutes and turn that into money.

Ideally I can always catch a bus exactly to where I want to go on the timetable that works for my day. Sometimes, however, I have to hop on a bus that gets me closer to where I want to be than I am right now but not all the way there. This is a metaphor about voting.

Mild light rail take: I would pay double the fare for half the announcements.

I really wish Metro would put out the old style reroute notices. I can’t tell where the 75 reroutes today and the massive list of missed stops doesn’t help :( (For those who remember, the old version had the turns the bus would make so riders could read the path to follow.)

There are 4 lanes of 40-50mph traffic for you to roll off the curb into in case your wheeled device is wider than 7 inches. Driving is definitely the preferred way to get to the light rail station.

Somebody yell at me if I'm wrong (I will meet you at "Don't Yell At Me" Tea), I think it's frustrating that the view from our Paper of Record about the events of this weekend is not "we should deal with guns", but instead "more public places should be gated and ticketed and surveilled".

I changed to @fastmail.com years ago, after Gmail started quietly dropping *some* emails from my selfhosted environment (that predates the existence of Google, which is fun). Fastmail is the best compromise I've found between "self hosting my own data" and "company big enough others have to care".
