Almost everything you are hearing in mainstream news about the supposed lack of popularity of progressive policies on police and prisons is a lie. Shifting resources from police/punishment to social services is one of the most consistently popular policies polled for 40 years.
It's important to understand that there is a campaign to make you think that more police, surveillance, and prisons are necessary and popular and inevitable. It's just completely untrue, and people like Bernie and AOC should not be playing into it: equalityalec.substack.com/p/convention...

Can't say I thought we'd get a second derailment before the CEO of Sound Transit Dow Constantine held a press conference about the first derailment
While turning around to avoid this damage, a Link train derailed in the pocket track just south of Rainier Beach station. The clip below is just audio, but I needed to convert it to a video to upload here.
Significant other organized our reusable bags and kitchen towels. They were stuffed in there before. Epic. Man of my dreams
Yeah and think of the NIMBYs that will see it as the end times lol
People deserve easy access to our public parks. What could be better than turning an already developed, unused area within a flagship nature park into affordable housing? Imagine the happy kids who could run free along the trails, the sunsets that hardworking folks could enjoy at the end of the day.
A great way to help salmon in the PNW is by taking mass transit, which reduces carbon emissions and tire particles in the water. It's also fun :) So ride transit with us on August 29th to learn about salmon & beavers at the Ballard Locks & Golden Gardens! RSVP here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
Even candidates endorsed by The Stranger have been promoting their ranking on Lefty Cheat Sheet. Candidates don’t like putting in hundreds of hours of unpaid work meeting with dozens of member-driven organizations when there’s a risk that a privately held company might not endorse them.
I don’t think it’s healthy for our city or the progressive movement that we’ve gotten to a point where 6 unelected and unaccountable editorial board members have so much influence over the outcomes of our elections
The moral of the story is: Ride your bike, cross paths with friends, and get tasty treats from far away places. Thank you @jennewee.bsky.social & @strongthany.bsky.social !!
🚨 Exciting Update: One of the things we chatted about was that @strongthany.bsky.social was headed to Rome the next day. And now I’m getting wine and pasta from Rome because I crossed paths with friends on the Greenway! The perks of biking are surprising and seemingly unlimited. 🍝🍷
I emailed Saka, Kettle, Juarez, and Strauss asking them to ban Junk fees Let them know too This is based on thousands of people taking Mayor Wilson’s survey. We worked hard to get the word out and take the survey. Now we need to deliver the ban!
SEATTLE PEOPLE PLEASE EMAIL YOUR COUNCIL MEMBERS AND TELL THEM TO BAN JUNK FEES.
Trump is a buffoon but RFK got exactly what he wanted here. The data are pretty clear that if you spread the vaccine appointments out then parents don’t come back for them. They don’t want kids to get the vaccines.
Yes, let’s burden both new parents and pediatricians with FIVE doctor visits instead of one for absolutely no legitimate medical reason. A masterstroke, sir.

Port Angeles to La Push via Olympic Adventure Trail and FS2923 ✅ I joined a friend’s plan for a very adventurous transit trekking and bikepacking ride from Port Angeles to Forks and then convinced them to add on riding to La Push and the Pacific Ocean. Single track, gravel, and hills, oh my. ⛴️🚌🚲🏔️😍

Thank u Covid cautious friends and lovers!!!
I spoke to the mutual aid groups and mask blocs combatting the spread of COVID and viral illness by freely distributing masks and tests and lending out air purifiers — who nationally have now distributed thousands of masks for wildfire smoke, too, amid an anti-public health admin @us.theguardian.com
Massachusettes "Millionaires Tax", which was targeted to fund transportation and education, has been a resounding success. It has funded FREE school lunch for ALL students, FREE buses in lowest income communities (people can get to work, etc.), and FREE community college. And "exodus" was minimal.

PS: If the Delivery Protection Act—for which Z just announced his support today—passes, this will be (after the rent freezes) the 2nnd major policy achievement of his admin. @tiffanycaban.bsky.social 's bill is THE model for city + state governments to replicate nationwide. bsky.app/profile/rafa...
"Mayor Wilson and Councilmember Dionne Foster have proposed a bill that would not only ban these fees, but require landlords to be honest about how much they will charge a tenant for rent." Exactly! This isn't rent regulation, this is "don't be sneaky about what it actually costs" regulation!
Oh hey, the Seattle Times published an op-ed I co-wrote urging the Seattle city council to ban junk rental fees. Guess I'm an activist rather than journalist these days, and that feels just fine. www.seattletimes.com/opinion/tell...
Not for nothing, if you are a Washington State resident, your health insurance company must pay for vaccines on the *state's* recommended vaccine list (RCW 48.43.047) and the WADoH must make public recommendations (RCW 43.70) and COVID is still on the list for all people: doh.wa.gov/public-healt...

Wow. I wrote about this at length in my book on logistics, I never thought any politician would do anything about it. For decades companies of every kind have used subcontracting to dodge responsibility for their workers.
If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon. Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.
The bill to ban rental junk fees will be voted on by City Council tomorrow, Tue. 8/11 at 2pm! The commission supports a ban on rental junk fees. We oppose allowing pet rent, even with a cap, and also to oppose allowing renters to be automatically enrolled for renters insurance (amendments C and D).
100%. I feel so terrible for the folks who voted straight stranger thinking they were choosing progressive champions who care about them :( horrible trick (also still so hilarious & unhinged that northwest progressive institute blocked me for simply accurately pointing out that they're tree NIMBYs)
not to take anything away from Kelabe, who is a phenomenal candidate & has run a great campaign, but this result does show the influence of The Stranger when you look at the 43rd and 46th LDs. The results in those races could have been very different if they had followed their progressive reputation
