2/6: In January 2025 we launched this new Institute (depressioninstitute.uci.edu), with the vision to transform our understanding of depression’s origins, treatment, and prevention, while enhancing societal-well being.

Astrocytes do so much more than any of us thought - they even communicate among specific brain regions across hemispheres! The journey to this paper spanned nearly a decade, but I'm most excited to see what everyone else does with the tools we've built. There's so much for all of us to explore!

In mice, female aggression is governed by an amygdala–to–medial hypothalamus circuit that is strengthened during pregnancy and is dynamically amplified by oxytocin during lactation.

Very excited to get to share culmination of this large-scale project to understand spatial gene expression in schizophrenia. Really proud of the amazing team work here working out lots of roadblocks to deploy these spatial strategies and analysis methods at scale!
