Gotta say, VA healthcare has gotten a lot better recently. Got an appointment for the next day for a small medical issue and walked out with medication. I jokingly asked for a sucker (lollipop) and got handed a gun lock instead. 🤷
Hard to understate how massive of a performance gain this is. This is going to make your app faster with no work other than upgrading AGP (I know that it is not easy to do)

Please don't boycott OSS... Follow the authors, maintainers, and contributors to them, as many of them will continue to support their projects regardless of the company they go to. Also, if you can, sponsor these individuals too! Many of them have links for sponsorship on their Github profiles.
P-Y@p-y.wtf · 6mo agoGiven this, calls for boycotting Square OSS are stupid. It's disrespectful to the hard work all these ex-Square engs have done. It won't hurt Square the company in any meaningful way, it just makes a bunch of your Android peers sad.
What happens to Square / Block Android OSS projects post layoffs? Let's start with some context OSS at Square is mostly a happy accident. Jack hired Bob, who's job was attracking world class engineers, and he did that through talks & OSS.

Estimates are that 70% of Block engineering was laid off today.
What a day. I truly enjoyed working with some of the most talented people and will miss that part. It was awesome while it lasted.
For anyone seeing the events that occurred at Block and think "man, I feel for them"... If you work in tech, it's gonna suck for you too. These are the people who maintained open source we all use, such as Okhttp, Retrofit, Okio, Turbine, Molecule, Paparazzi, Moshi, KotlinPoet, Java Poet, etc...
I suspect it will be a different watershed moment: Jack has just torpedoed Square and Cash App, and when real people start losing real money as a result this will become the horror story that people point to when warning of the limits of AI driven coding.
i dont know if its always been like this but among the elites theres just no sense of responsibility to be good stewards of the society thats given them everything
To my former colleagues who have been treated so shockingly badly today and for the last few months: Square/Block was the best job I ever had, with many of the best people I ever worked with. None of you deserve to be dicked around like this. It's not you, it's Jack.
