I cannot overstate how much I hate when people are dicks about babies crying in public (especially airplanes). Do you think the parent is having a good time right now?? Do you think they are not aware of the situation??? Are you going to negotiate with a literal infant????
Something I talked about repeatedly in 2024: 20 million people, to say nothing of 30, would be the largest forced population transfer in human history, larger any of the three post-WW2 transfers (partition of India, expulsion of Germans, partition of Palestine) or the post-WW1 Balkan cases.

about the wildfires: water quality can suffer for *years* after wildfires, since ash and contaminants that get left on the surface after a fire can be swept into waterways after big rains or snowmelts. droughts can extend this. spending on water infrastructure not keeping pace with climate crisis
Our built world is not designed for these changing temperatures and sprawling catastrophes, and there is no plan or budget in place to address this. To make what's ahead more bearable and survivable, we will need transformative change and radical redistribution—not fucking data centers.
