"It’s a little hard to trust something you can’t look in the eyes" Dramatized in the movie Hidden Figures, that’s the message John Glenn responded with when thanking Mission Control for having a real person check the go/no-go numbers, not just a "hunk of metal" IBM mainframe. +1 Skin-in-the-game

Current fervour for agents and against hiring is getting out of touch. It reminds me of the discourse of supposed inevitability of Agile as the answer to most problems with tech, back in the day. You might end up with a bunch of agents, but you might not liking working there in the end.

A founder friend at my co-working space has recently hired a developer. The employee works full-time. The pay is modest but steady. All the code is AI-written, which the founder steered (he's not a dev) for months already. But he needed to delegate driving all that process.

A portable reference display is a strong-enough claim for some high-end PRO users. A glowing logo, a beefed-up portable, premium even in its weight, that's a strong-enough offer for all high-end PRO users. The touch screen? Would it be a thickness issue on other MacBooks?

Travis Turner has no other match, as a speaker, to anyone else in the Ruby world. I think he might be outmatched outside the Ruby world too. Anyway, one of my favourite speakers of all time.

You want to add AI to your app. Consider that AI is both an efficiency innovation and an empowering innovation. Efficiency innovation tries to say "hey my app is worthwhile because you can do more, more quickly". But they reply: "why not use the AI directly?" 💥 Make new apps 💥

"It's for everyone". That was the positioning mistake then, still a mistake now. "Everyone" = no one in particular. When you get the first output from an LLM, remember that it was trained to please everyone, so no one in particular. So by default, LLM output needs adjusting.

You might want to build a perfect product, but rare are the people in search of hypothetical perfection. Instead, people move from one "good enough" to another "good enough". Until it becomes an "enough is enough". That's when you suggest your product. everyonewantsprogress.com/0140-good-en...

Good Enough, Misunderstood

If you feel at risk, you'll use generative tools liberally. But if you have something to gain, you might do the opposite of others. You'll use AI here, but not there. You'll write your own posts, speak in your voice, take your time. It's time for culture. everyonewantsprogress.com/0139-disrupt...

Disruption, Vulnerability, and Doing the Opposite

You’ve been wondering, on repeat, how these generative tools are going to affect your work. You use them for your first drafts. You even trust them for full outputs. You wonder if you even need to be ...

Most depressions are best interpreted as immigrations. Leaving a familiar place behind, figuring out the new reality in this new place. A friend, who immigrated here, told me that the majority of immigrants go through a depression. It made me realize the normalcy of depression. It's a passage.

To the people saying "No one is going to vibe code their own CRM", you're 100% wrong. We are seeing that as a cancellation reason a few times per month, and we have extremely low-tech customers. Not saying SaaS is going away, but to act like AI won't replace some of it is silly.
