"Garden and Home" rose is a robust, cluster-flowered floribunda with a nostalgic, old-fashioned, cup-shaped bloom that matures from apricot/gold to light pink. It has dark green foliage, grows to a height of 4-5 feet, is lightly fragrant. Bred by Kordes. Photo by Thabo Nkadming
Dodie Smith, 1968, photo by Jane Bown. Smith, author of 'I Capture the Castle' and 'The Hundred and One Dalmatians', was born in Whitefield, near Bury, and spent her childhood in Old Trafford.
S i l e n c e, pure silence is the tonic I need silence like a dormouse curled up on a leaf, fast asleep silence like a harp in a bog, buried deep silence like a stone on the moon, all alone a silence so profound, so vast— my weary soul can s c r e a m at last. #sensewrds 211

Tufted Puffins — Glen Rabena, 1985 silkscreen print 38 x 30 cm.
Rehabilitation of the Dandelion! No other plant in the Netherlands attracts as many bee species: 107. In early spring, when nothing else is blooming, it is simply there. Meadow bird chicks that have just hatched depend on the insects that are drawn to dandelions. No dandelion, no insect, no chick.

Strong early turnout in Hungary — looking good for the opposition party and bad for Orbán. 🇭🇺
Not even 6 in the morning, and Hungarians are already lining up to vote! Hopefully get rid of Orban and Russians once, and for all! #cdnpoli
In France, legislation came into effect recently for all car parks that have over 80 spaces to be covered with solar panels. Estimated to add around 11GW of renewable energy capacity to the national grid. Why not do likewise in Scotland? Braehead, Silverburn, Glasgow Fort etc.
