They/them. Queer, agender, panromantic. Unrepentant nerd. Writer, reader. Jack of all fandoms. I follow a lot of NSFW stuff so deal with that on your own time. 'Rowlbear' PFP by @shinkerron.bsky.social
Some mages get to cast two spells in a turn; sometimes this is just inherent to the character.
Since it's the anniversary of the debut of "Batman the Animated Series," feeling compelled to share this art by Bruce Timm of all the things they weren't allowed to show in the cartoon. Can you guess them all? Answers in the next skeet down.
-IMPORTANT- Gumroad has recently updated their website with the intention of phasing out the ability to manually edit your storefront and allowing you to only edit your storefront via AI agents. I will be dropping gumroad support entirely in the near future. More to come as I sort things out.

It was hard enough losing Dolly yesterday. ☹️ And now, we cry a sea of black tears for our very own Doviculus: The irreplaceable Tim Curry. May these beloved legends rest well, as we carry their spirit forward~ 🩷🖤

THIS! ...And read outside your home time period, too. Every period's writing has its own strengths and its own typical errors. Read widely and learn as many of these as possible so that you can (where useful) adopt their strengths and avoid their errors.
Unsolicited writing advice, no. 2136778: If you read widely, outside your genre, your writing will be much less likely to be formulaic and predictable.
Watching The Pitt and it occurs to me that every time a US-based medical show hits "I don't have insurance" and it becomes its own crisis, for almost the entire rest of the world it suddenly becomes a sci-fi dystopia. We're numb to it, but the base concept of "No money = you die" is hideous.
Apparently some folks are playing real dumb about skull symbols so let’s play a little game I like to call “Nazi skull or not a Nazi skull” First up, the Jolly Roger. This is a pirate skull, not a Nazi skull. It means you might get robbed, but prolly not genocided. With me so far? 1/x
Now that we've done Mother Ann, can we have a movie about Public Universal Friend?
I listened to a podcast once that made the argument that "AI" is really just a marketing term. I wonder whether the point is overstated, since what we're calling "AI" these days is all probabilistic, so it has something in common. But I do now make an effort to keep the different types separate.
Discourse in the bookseller chat today about AI policy. I think the first step needs to be differentiating machine learning and algorithms from LLMs. As a fan of, say, reading charred manuscripts with digital assistance, I don't oppose that because it's not 'generative'. Our LLM policy? "No."
Minor addendum: watching Fred *discover* that some shitbag company has spurted its AI into our pastry is something I truly wish could have been captured on film. I am a fair hand at profanity, but Mr. Hicks keeps his powder dry for exactly these occasions.
Note: We do not use AI. Period. We pay humans to create our games, end-to-end. Adobe recently implemented a feature that quietly injected AI alt text into Umdaar. We've removed it, updated the PDF, and disabled the feature. We apologize for the error, please download the latest PDF. Also: Fuck AI.
For his 100th birthday, I'm reminded of Mel Brook's comments on the difference between drama and comedy. Drama is I cut my finger, I have to go to the hospital, my day is ruined and everything I wanted to do is undermined. Comedy is *you* fall down a well and die.
It's unnervingly similar to a *LOT* of online interactions these days, with people who enjoy being toxic and harassing others because they don't openly hate works of fiction the same way they do, so that gives them "permission" to try and bully people into compliance.
Rewatched 2025’s Superman last night to prepare to watch Supergirl later tonight (despite mixed reactions), and I couldn’t help but notice that this scene is very similar to the toxic cartoon community right now unnecessarily slamming things that’s not cater to their taste just to get likes.
I love how someone did this as a gag comic but pretty much everyone who read it was like "This gets to the essence of who Batman is better than anything."
a true knight fights for everyone ⚔️🏳️⚧️ (chivalry is gay!! happy pride!!)
