Among the worst ideas floating around is that "the free market" will naturally achieve desirable results for society. No, it won't, not even in theory, much less in practice. Markets don't optimize "good for society" unless you make them.
Turns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.

Long-distance driving in Europe is getting simpler for electric vehicles 🚗💨 New rules adopted by the European Parliament define where chargers and hydrogen stations must be placed for cars, trucks, and buses across major EU roads, so drivers always know where to refuel. 🎞️ Thelma and Louise (1991)
Is there a way not having to do the 2FA confirmation every time with an atproto oauth sign in flow from another app? I'm already signed in with my browser, shouldn't it use the session?
Just in case you still use any Basecamp products, DHH is crashing out about his AI product gently pointing out that it’s bad for him to have extermination fantasies about the Roma people.
It’s a great time to be alive for people who enjoy watching the world burn, sometimes literally. www.bbc.com/news/live/c5...
We drove from Moscow to Manchester through Mexico, Berlin and Peru. In one day!
"If your plans change, please modify or cancel your reservation as soon as possible to allow someone else to enjoy the park." Reserved campsites, blocked for multiple days and the folks never show. I've seen way too often this year and it's very frustrating for us trying to find available campsites
The distances in the US are mind blowing: we travelled 10.000km through roughly half the country. That's 1.5 round trips from Berlin to Lisbon, through 5 countries in Europe (DE/BE/FR/ES/PT) and we're still in the USA 🤯
Dark Mode was such a huge thing in macOS, how come we're on "Golden Gate" and there's still no way to open light/dark terminal windows based on the system settings? 😳
Here we are. After nearly 10.000km driving we’re at our “turn back” point, the furthest north-east we planned to go: Acadia national park. Now back west to Boulder!
I've been wanting to do a proper meetup with a venue and food and demos for months, ever since we started @atproto.boston in November of 2025. Now it's happening! See you there.

I am once again begging Hollywood to stop using the Greek alphabet for an Ancient World movie, if they can't afford to even throw a couple of quid at anyone with an inkling of the language. Unless they really think audiences are dying to see THS THDPSSSSPS
There's an HTTP status code for performance. 103 Early Hints sends your preload and preconnect headers before the real response, so the browser downloads your CSS and hero image while your backend queries the database.
Really enjoying Sugar on tv, mostly because it's soooooo slow. Very refreshing. A pace I can keep up with.
We invented a new, very difficult version of “I spy”: spot cars with more than one person in the car 🚘
Look at me, getting a taste of that sweet east coast lifestyle. 🚘 🚘 🚘
I know New York Pizza, Chicago style pizza and Detroit style pizza, but I’ve never seen Connecticut Pizza. How’s this the pizza capital?
We have a free weekend and not entirely sure what to do. Any recommendations for kids activities/highlights in the area around DC or Philly? I’d prefer to avoid going into the big cities though.
This is an idea I've had in my obsidian notes for a while but via email for boomers / non tech business owners. I'd call it something corny like MyWebsiteGuy or something. And it's just hermes with an email account and a github token.
I created a new marketing website with Astro, linked Claude to the repo and added the new Claude Tag to a #website slack channel. Now everyone in the channel can just ask `@Claude` to make changes to the website and we don't need a CMS any more. Crazy times.
I noticed npm is finally pushing out some of the breaking changes that I wanted to push 5 years ago, so I decided to write something about it, mostly to report and raise awareness that these changes are coming 😊 www.vlt.io/blog/npm-12-...
Beyond disabling postinstalls: how npm install will change in npm 12 | vlt /vōlt/
As part of its planned 12th release, the npm CLI drops automatically running lifecycle scripts on installs as part of multiple planned breaking changes
