Free Palestine, BLM, 1312, protect Trans people, keep abortion safe and legal, vaccines are great, fascism is bad, COVID is still here, and environmental advocacy including landback. I also like TV and cute animals? in SoCal. https://linktr.ee/paulidin

This. Coming out isn't a thing we do once. Even if we are already out in well parts of our lives—as in openly identifying as queer and not caring who knows it—there will still be people we know or meet who don't know. You can "be out" and still have to navigate coming out again and again and again

there are so many ways to come out and times to do so and it never has to be to everyone at once and it often is an ongoing thing and sometimes it goes unexpectedly well, and others it doesn't go as smoothly as you hope it will, or can even be dangerous. but there is also so much freedom in it

Greetings from day 2 of Ten Days With A Carry On— this time with rollator! Friday was my first time using wheelchair service at the airport (DCA). It went smoothly! Less smoothly: all the Internet tips about attaching a suitcase to a rollator. It kept just falling over, alas

Had a California equivalent to a “snow day” because of El Niño Balboa Boulevard was under water throughout most of the peninsula Long underwater Kelvin waves and the oncoming storm surge caused havoc and preventing me from getting to one of my clients homes today 🌊

#Cupertino is weird. it's filmed kind of like a toned-down Pushing Daisies but it seems to be entirely about suing garbage billion-dollar silicon valley companies, which is important but super boring. There's no music in this, there's no overt comedy... I'm astonished it got to air.

"No one is too small to make a difference." - Greta Thunberg. Children's educators are activists. Activists are those who take strong, direct action to support or oppose change. Children's educators support, believe in children. Children make a difference, they are capable of significant change.

If you’re still wearing a mask, thank you. Please know you’re not alone. Many of us still mask, test and isolate when sick. Being the lone masker can be difficult, but your long term health is worth it. As a high risk, immunocompromised person… I see and appreciate you.

To the person noting there is not enough money in the world to license every piece of intellectual property stolen for "AI" training: you're sooooo close to the point, friend, keep going, you'll get there if you try

Factually: a) Whatever he "meant", he picked cities he doesn't like to be theoretically destroyed b) he didn't seem remotely upset at the thought of their destruction or mind when people CLAPPED for it, & c) if it wasn't a threat, he can no longer express himself coherently enough to be understood.

California officials criticized President Trump after he appeared to suggest Iran could “take out” L.A. and San Diego. Communications director Steven Cheung said Trump was saying cities “would have been threatened if a nuclear Iran hadn’t been stopped.”

Actually, I kind of want AGII to develop for real. If it does, and it can parse global news, it will immediately kill the billionaires and destroy capitalism for creating a resource-hoarding, earth-overheating system that's not conducive to computers living more than a few years. AGI wants eternity.

Ooh, this was one of those weekends I spent SO much time on the paddleboard on the waves that being on solid flooring feels like it's bobbing up and down. Kind of cool in general but a little unnerving on the toilet.

Hulu is coming out with something (a movie? a show?) called Phony, which looks like a less scary version of Other Mommy. But I think Phony is about a kid getting some kind of head injury that causes face blindness? Unsure.

Things Gavin Newsom has vetoed this week: -A ban on secretly recording people with smart glasses -A ban on ICE agents working for the state government -A ban on websites selling your data -A bill giving native tribes more say over water rights -A bill protecting transgender healthcare providers

It could use less ableism but broadly yes. We all translate what we hear into words and ideas that make sense to us. If we can do it accurately and well, we can be a teacher. If we can do it with little loss of info, we can be a journalist. But if we filter it too much, we'll just be wrong.

A man replied to this saying in earnest that women need to get organized and fight for our rights and men will follow. We did that. We do that. We mobilized the largest single day protest in global history on every continent and yet I have fewer rights than my mom did at my age.

I literally don’t know a single woman who hasn’t been raped, stalked, groped, harassed, or sexually violated in some way at some point in their life. If you choose to doubt and dox survivors, just know every woman in your life is disgusted by you.
