Oh dear! I genuinely think this was the "before" junction from hell that they were going to make more safe. But this is what they came up with! Did no-one who designed this ever actually imagine what it would be like to traverse this on foot or on a bike?

An easier way onto NB I-5? We're all for it! A new right-turn lane & traffic signal at WB E 39th St in #VanWA is helping reduce backups & delays.🚦 Upgraded sidewalks & curb ramps make it easier for people walking, biking & rolling, too!🚶‍♀️🚲🧑🏼‍🦼‍ #ClarkWA bit.ly/4iq2tAY

Just imagine what we could have done with this money: finishing HS2 in Full, Crossrail 2, Leeds Tram, Bristol BRT, etc etc etc. And of course the knock on congestion savings might well have ended up saving drivers money.

A gentle reminder that the state's effective subsidy of driving an ICE vehicle, since Government lost any gumption to raise fuel duty in 2010, currently stands at £120 billion.

This meisen-omeshi summer kimono features an intricate basketweave or log cabin-style pattern in rich teals, yellows, and coral tones that creates a complex optical field reminiscent of Constructivist and Bauhaus design principles. Against this dynamic geometric ground, clusters of tubaki (camellia) blossoms appear as if scattered by wind, their naturalistic forms creating a compelling tension with the rigidly structured background. The camellias rest upon jigami—stylized fan-shaped papers—that serve as delicate frames for the floral motifs, adding another layer of geometric interplay to the overall design.

The artistic sophistication lies in how the designer balances opposing visual forces: the mechanical precision of the woven geometric pattern against the organic curves of the camellia blossoms, and the cool palette of the background against the warm tones of the flowers. The camellia, a winter-blooming flower symbolizing enduring love and the beauty that persists through adversity, gains additional meaning when rendered on fan-shaped papers that traditionally carried poetry or artistic inscriptions. This combination suggests cultured refinement and literary sensibility. The meisen-omeshi technique, with its characteristic soft-edged quality and silk-rayon blend, creates subtle variations in texture and light reflection that animate the geometric pattern while maintaining the crisp definition needed for such complex patterning.

Want to know a city’s priorities? Watch its traffic lights. At this Delft intersection, pedestrians and cyclists enjoy a continuous green light. Drivers must ask permission to cross the foot and cycle path by triggering a sensor. Infrastructure shapes how we move. Traffic lights show who we value.

A UN Commission has concluded Israeli military forces have committed war crimes in the West Bank, including systematic attacks on civilians, intentional targeting of children, and the use of sexual and gender-based violence. These horrific crimes cannot go unanswered.

This is pretty reasonable and squares with my experience of over 20 years of cycle commuting in London London, United Kingdom gets about 362 rideable days a year by my rules: 304 green and 58 yellow. I set green above 2°C and red below −4°C. Find your number with Bike-Rideable Days by Shifter.

This tool from Shifter (Tom Babin) is so cool! Allows you to put in your city + your personal temp + precipitation tolerances to predict how many days per year you can ride a bike easily, with some prep, or not at all. shifter.info/bike-rideabl...

This is big news. Ending the puberty-blocker ban in New Zealand is massive. It puts Cass & the entirety of Labour’s flagship anti-trans policies in doubt. Yet no mainstream media platform has even mentioned it. Indeed most alternative media, like @bylinetimes.bsky.social have failed to mention it.

Last week I called on the UK Government to mark Black History Month by acknowledging the inhumane crimes that Britain inflicted on African people for centuries, the ongoing impact of those crimes on the Global South, and the need for slavery reparations.

This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.

I’ve spoken directly to several parents whose Trans+ children are being harmed by the Labour government, and the NHS So let me be explicitly clear Barnes is using her national platform to promote medical abuse practices aimed at forcibly detransitioning young Trans+ people This is the scandal

Alejandra Caraballo@esqueer.net · last wk.

The scandal here being trans kids got the care they needed. Notice how Hannah never talks to the patients or the parents. It's always someone opposed to the care who claims it's a massive scandal but if that's the case, where are the patients and their parents?

Lula: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. A crime in the digital world must be treated the same as a crime in the real world. We cannot have monstrous companies earning millions... not paying taxes... wanting to steer elections."
