Yes! I’ve had three pieces recently make short lists but receive kind rejections. I take them as good signs and send the work out again. The current story has been giving me fits, but today, I’m gaining ground on a scene I did not realize I needed until 48 hours ago. Keep going!

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 763: Having a tough time? Good. Got a rejection? Good. Got a bad review? Good. Had to abandon a project because it wasn't working? Good. These things all teach you resilience, patience and determination; the things you need most as a writer.

It’s nice to see everyone’s textual analysis of The Odyssey It’s almost like the humanities give you entertainment, feelings, pleasure, and fun/interesting stuff to talk about, as well as lenses into both past and current society
