My own reaction to Nolan's Odyssey is that my full attention was on Himesh Patel once again Going Through It, and how much I wanted the movie to be from the point of view of his character (who we will rename Ancient Times Jeevan) Samantha Morton can come too

Even if you've already read the poems and decided on your vote, it's worth clicking through to read Holly's reviews of each - explanations of why they work and what makes them distinct. There aren't a lot of poetry reviewers out there, and this is fantastic analysis written approachably.

After a long stretch building in private, Holocene is starting to take shape. We're a virtual cinema for international and independent film, where films screen as events instead of sitting in an endless catalogue. Eight titles are already confirmed with more coming. Launching this autumn. #filmsky

The thing that always keeps me grounded is remembering that grizzly bears have enough bite force to crush a bowling ball. I'll never be able to compete with that, so why define myself by such standards?

My adaptation of "Sleepy People" departs from the original text, which already exists and was not destroyed when I made the film. People suggest I should adapt my short stories to film. My short films would differ significantly from the stories, even though I wrote both. Different medium.

It's Tuesday, so I uploaded another of my old films to YouTube. This one's an adaptation of a Jonathan Lethem short story. It's slipstream absurdist science fiction semi-romance. It's workplace comedy in a pharmacy. It's the sudden surreal arrival of United Nations peacekeepers. youtu.be/ftbs023IuGQ

good thread. the rumi poem "god turns us from one feeling to the next so we will have two wings to fly, not one" evoked here. once each wing starts commenting on the other, it's a tailspin. sweet or salty? yes time-based art or static art? yes inspiration & practice > formal constraints, imo.

TikTok has incredible moderation team. Our InfoWars video about Multiple Horse Theory — the idea that there are many horses in the world and not just one — has been fully deemed misinformation and lost the formal appeals process. Confirmed by Larry Ellison: There is only one horse on Earth.

spent the day teaching myself how to color grade in DaVinci Resolve, color timing a 6 minute video with about 50 shots, then writing and recording the first minute of the score left shoulder busted even though I wasn't using my left hand mostly at all, wtf eyes falling out at least makes sense

due to early childhood exposure i espouse the once and future king explanation for why iron interferes with magic; it's too newfangled for fairies, mercurial but rooted immovably in the long ago and far away, to get their heads around. which means modern fairies are warded off by plastic. wifi. AI.
