If you're trying to understand how a pluralistic populist mobilization against the oligarchs finally got underway, I hope this is a good introduction. It's crazy to see in real time — like Occupy and the Tea Party in one. newrepublic.com/article/2133...

I knew @haydendonnell.bsky.social was right about the easy, unrealistic boosting Simeon Brown has received from most media. It's obvious that Brown's reputation as 'effective' (!) is divorced from reality. But I had not heard of the alleged 'Golden Balls' nickname. You must hear it in context #NZpol

Hayden Donnell's never going to get a job in the Parliamentary press gallery if he doesn't understand that Simeon Brown is impeccably clever and effective.

This is absolutely correct. A few years ago I asked a younger in-law relative, an evangelical Christian pastor & who was preparing a sermon (or bible study class?) what the ‘topic’ was — he said “Gender roles in the Church”. So it became evident the patriarchy & misogyny are still reproducing.

I should note, incidentally, that the phrase “gender ideology” is itself a rather clever sort of misdirection meant to imply that right wingers DON’T have a “gender ideology”—which of course, they do, a particularly rigid and dogmatic one at that.
