Having *lurved* the book, and it still being relatively fresh in my mind, I really appreciated how faithful the movie adaptation was to the spirit and tone of the book. Obv., spoilers, but I enjoyed how it unfolded.

This is absolutely correct. A few years ago I asked a younger in-law relative, an evangelical Christian pastor & who was preparing a sermon (or bible study class?) what the ‘topic’ was — he said “Gender roles in the Church”. So it became evident the patriarchy & misogyny are still reproducing.

It’s kinda tragic that confessing that you have to deliberately underpay 50% of the populace in order to reach your budgetary requirements isn’t a career-ending move #nzpol
