12.5yrs ago, before I was a councillor, & before my friend Jacinda became Prime Minister (you might have heard of her) we were out campaigning to convince the govt fund the CRL. Two years later PM John Key confirmed they’d fund half. Thanks to Len Brown and all the campaigners who pushed for this!
I have normal people, work colleagues, who don't Post and aren't Like This who think Hipkins isn't the guy and wants Kieran Macca on charge of Labour - they'd enthusiastically vote for him, rather than resignedly maybe vote for Hipkins. It's infuriating.

It’s easy to forget that neoliberalism is, at its core, nihilistic. That it is a calculative orientation toward social organization fundamentally disinterested in democratic —by which I mean broadly-shared— wellbeing. That its priorities are entirely abstract.

#nzpol Having relistened to Ayesha Verral's questions to Simeon Brown in Parliament yesterday, it seems that Brown obtained 'advice from the Ministry of Health that Mulgan was appointable.' The extent and nature of the advice and who provided it to Brown should now be the subject of an OIA request

Funneling overseas PhDs to Australian universities instead. My eldest did her (funded) PhD and two years' post-doc there and by then had made her life in Straya and her subsequent career. Funding PhDs is an investment, not charity.
