El-Sayed, Lawrence and McKinney all won progressive campaigns in Michigan last night by talking about climate and clean energy like it was a kitchen-table issue — because skyrocketing energy bills and endless wildfire smoke matter to people.

These appointees always say they won’t do the thing they immediately do upon being confirmed. DO NOT CONFIRM HIM

This level of craftsmanship and debate will never be replaced by AI.
She was Hayao Miyazaki's "right-hand" collaborator from the '70s onward. Her name was Michiyo Yasuda -- the best color designer in animation. Yasuda's eye for color gave Ghibli's work a totally different look. We explore her methods: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/the-artist...
I keep seeing arguments for games being expensive due to hyper realistic expectations for art, or simply lots of art. What I don’t see is the actual most costly reason: Indecision Iteration is good, but the yearly rebuilding of entire characters, storylines, and levels, is the most expensive thing
Many factors at play here - not the least of which is higher-ups (in their infinite wisdom) not being able to commit to anything, or knowing good from bad All the while the economy at large expects the profit line go infinitely up, absolutely ignoring its undeniable tendency to do the opposite
When Death of Stalin came out a lot of people got mad at it for being ahistorical, which I get, but it is a good point of reference when things happen in real life that remind you of Death of Stalin, which happens a surprising amount these days.
A huge part of the games industries struggles stem from Roblox just utterly dominating playtime and growth for kids. I don’t know how it plays out long term. I’m not overly optimistic. But if Roblox implodes or those users move on it will massively help the games industry as a whole.
Godot’s new AI policy is here. the TL;DR: all code must human authored.
For years we have been overwhelmed by the volume of code contributions we have to review, especially from new contributors. AI has made the problem much worse. That's why we are taking steps to reduce the burden on maintainers while still welcoming new contributors: godotengine.org/article/cont...
New @jasonschreier.bsky.social video is about LIVE service games, but he honestly could have just used 5 seconds of the video.
There's a lot of cool software to help artists, but one I adore and never see talked about is Head Model Studio It's been one of the most helpful tools in my kit for a year now For full access, it's paid (23USD/year or 50USD for lifetime access) but they continue to update and expand regularly (1/4)

as someone who worked on bg3, I fully agree - it's so utterly hypocritical how these platforms treat sex and eroticism - they want to make bank off big releases (and payment processors conveniently look the other way when this happens!) but strangle entire swathes of content from indies
It makes me so angry that baldur’s gate won every single game of the year award in existence, but if it had been an indie game it would not have been allowed on the any storefront or funding platforms.
I love games and so many of the people who make them. It was an honor to accept the award on behalf of the team and a privilege to be able to speak to what I believe in. ♥️
Ghost of Yotei star: 'workers need more protections' in game development
Elon Musk mind you blatantly in the Epstein files asking to visit Epstein Island. So when these evil people like Musk talk about culture, principle, and morality make no mistake….they have none.
1/3 What Musk is really referring to here is, of course “race” - that construct that served to define the hierarchies of wealth & power structured by modern colonialism. Like other far right racists though, he uses the word “culture” as a seemingly less pernicious synonym.
I’m losing my mind over the Epstein files. Anyone with any humanity and morality left should be losing their collective shit over this. This is the greatest scandal in human history. We must get the full truth. How is this not bipartisan????!!!!
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
Bernice King has it absolutely right. We are facing a moral crisis in this country. And we must all act together to end it.
Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti. "Please get the truth out about our son."
“.. He cared about people deeply ..,” said Michael Pretti, Alex’s father. “He thought it was terrible, you know, kidnapping children, just grabbing people off the street. He cared about those people, and he knew it was wrong ..” @washingtonpost.com www.washingtonpost.com/national/202...
I'm seeing a rise in people talking about intentionality and being present while playing games, which as a developer of narrative games is encouraging to see.
This is very applicable to indie game devs. Don't try to make a game for the masses, it's not going to work. Make your own weird game and don't water it down at all. SOMEONE out there is gonna go crazy for it, maybe a lot of someones. People can feel passion, and they react to it.

Please please please go watch One Battle After Another. It’s my favorite movie of all time. Not only Paul Thomas Andersons most personal film but also his most stylish and impactful movie. It blurs the line between satire and realism while meaningfully leaving the audience with a message of hope.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life fighting for equity and justice. He taught us that even in the face of intimidation and discrimination, we must never stop working towards a better future – a lesson that feels especially relevant today.
I often think about Jonathan Cooper's posts about TLOU2, that the studio ran out of seasoned game animators because its reputation was so bad and thus had to hire film folks who had to be taught how to put games together.
I say this with utmost respect, but Taylor is an absolute tool for saying this privately or publicly. I can say on good authority that it takes 7 to 10 years to develop game development skills to “good enough” to produce commercial game content. 7-10 years plus the cost of a university education.
