Midwesterner, teacher, gamer, and designer in St. Louis, MO. Also a host on the Decision Space podcast!

This was my fourth Gen Con and by far the best time I’ve ever had at a big convention. It felt a bit like summer camp seeing all the friends I’ve made over the years. It was also my first Gen Con as a published designer. Here are a few highlights:

Are any publishers taking Gen Con pitches and interested in seeing an area control game driven by a hand management action programming system with lots of opponent mind reading?

ABSOLUTE BATMAN is going to be an animated series! Can’t even begin to tell you guys how excited Nick and I are to be working on this - so grateful to Warner Brothers animation and DC Studios!

For a while I've been noodling on a taxonomy of decision types. I'm not convinced it's fully baked, but I already have been using it successfully in my design process, so I thought I might share it here in its current form. At the moment there's 5 types.

I just finished rereading the Long Halloween for the first time in at least 20 years. Reading this month to month was a formative part of my young comic book upbringing. I remember reading Wizard articles speculating the identity of the killer. Still great and Tim Sale’s art still absolutely rips.

Honestly becoming a co-host of this podcast has been an even more joyful, interesting, enriching addition to my life than I expected. Glad that folks are listening and hopefully we're delivering something that is worth all the effort.

Y’all know about the Salomon Scale, but have you heard about the Wissinger Wave? 🌊 📈 We’ve experienced just a bit of growth over these past 18-months with Paul and Pete in the mix. Let’s give @petewiss.bsky.social some flowers for all he’s done for DS! IYKYK🌹 Paul and Brendan are cool too -Jake

Had a great initial playtest of a new design last night. Forever thankful to have creative friends that are so generous with their time and feedback. I don’t think I could be successful in this without that. Making games requires you to get out of your own head from time to time.
