Welp, that's a wrap. Buried Giant Studios has just finished its #GenCon2026 debut. What a wild ride it was. I hardly had time to post during the show, but I wanted to jot something down now. 🧵

COME THROUGH! Having a little party and showing off all of our wild prototypes and spinning some records. 6-9pm. Room 126. If you don't have a ticket, don't worry! We won't turn anyone away. Feel free to swing by!! The full crew at Buried Giant and Eerie Idol will be here AND WE HAVE SURPRISES!
Managed to sneak into the @wehrlegig.games John Company mega game! Played Julia Benyon who ended up as a part of the court of directors the whole game. With a combo of some clutch blackmail and a lot of wheeling and dealing the Benyon family managed to come out on top of a very competitive game!
We are pumped!! We are all set up for Gen Con with @theoldkingscrown.bsky.social so find us at the giant mouth! Room 126. Booth 1555.
My BlueSky exists for - long 18th century (1660-1835) nerds - analog game nerds As usual my Honorary Aca-Sib* is playing right in the weird center of that Venn Diagram, & made a vicious game I thoroughly enjoyed cursing at. YMMV. *we almost were in the same PhD program as we discovered this year
Today we’re posting the prelaunch page for our next game: the second edition of An Infamous Traffic. There is so much to say about this game, and we’ll be talking about it quite a bit in the coming months, but I wanted to provide a little background here. 🧵 www.kickstarter.com/projects/col...
Played this one at a con last weekend and I cannot wait to get a copy because my group will love it. We dig nasty economic shit.

I'm very intrigued (as I'm sure many are) to see how this new edition changes An Infamous Traffic. Will this one be as dramatic a change as Pax Pamir or JoCo 2nd Editions? I'm signed up for notifications! @wehrlegig.games
I've long been a fan of AIT, and was lucky enough to watch a playtest of the 2nd edition late last year at SDHistCon. I liked what I saw and know that @colewehrle.bsky.social didn't stop there! Give the campaign a follow if you're curious! @wehrlegig.games www.kickstarter.com/projects/col...

I'll be at Games for Change Festival in NY next week, where Molly House has been nominated for an award!
Honored to announce that Molly House has been nominated for Best Tabletop Game for Impact at this year's @gamesforchange.bsky.social Games for Change Festival! Huge congrats to all the other finalists and excited to share that Jo will be attending the festival this July in NYC too. 🎉🎉
I can't believe we ran a 25 player John Company mega game using the 1813 deregulation scenario AND mess of demos for An Infamous Traffic. Thank you @sdhistcon.bsky.social for organizing an incredible weekend of gaming here St. Paul. Until next time!
The fateful final moment in last nights John Company mega game where my Larkin Family’s private firm was robbed of victory by the public perception of East India Company’s failure that we orchestrated masterfully! @sdhistcon.bsky.social @wehrlegig.games @colewehrle.bsky.social
This is a great watch. Stop thinking about games. Start thinking about play. 🧵
New video! Last month I was invited to Spain's Guadalindie game convention to do a talk of my choice. I ended up giving an angry polemic about how the culture of games is failing designers left and right, because there is no games industry. There's just "play" www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4Xm...

Our good friends are opening a non-profit, arthouse microcinema in Bloomington,IN after nearly a decade of running pop-up movie screenings in town. We're thrilled they are nearly funded, so you can rest assured there will be a theater chair labeled Wehrlegig Games there.

I'm still catching up on all of the post-UKGE work, but I had some time today to crack into a new Arcs fate and played around with some layout concepts for An Infamous Traffic. I'm happy to report that I am fully back on my bullshit. That bullshit: putting Becky Sharp into more games.
One of my favorite things about working in board games is how years of work often collapse into a little pile of paper that you can easily hold in your hand. It's a lot like writing, but then you have to spend a couple hours with scissors and glue to get it into shape.
I had a lovely chat with Pete recently about Buried Giant and playtesting and the nature of the games we make. You can find it here:

I'll be at #UKGE2026! If you're in Birmingham in a couple of weeks and want to play a game of Oath or the new edition of An Infamous Traffic, watch this space. I'll be hosting little pop-up games throughout the convention.
WE CANNOT WAIT!! What an honour to be sharing a space with these folks. They really are such an inspiring group of designers and artists. If you're attending this year, drop by if you're able! There is an absolutely packed calendar of events, playtests and sneak peeks lined up! HERE WE GO!

This year Buried Giant and Eerie Idol will be sharing a booth and room at GenCon. We started working on this collab back when it was just going to be a split with Wehrlegig, and I'm so happy that we'll be able to do something really big. Keep an eye out for the event sign-ups this Sunday!

"Swords Against - Beginner's Box" is in some ways in conversation with some recent video games that take the form of documents, databases, or other bits of archival objects - a narrative mystery. But its analogue format and commitment to verisimilitude posed a couple unique interlocking problems. 🧵
After 11 fantastic years, Bloomsbury Publishing, the owner of Osprey Games, has made the difficult decision to sell the board and card game line. This was not a decision taken lightly and reflects a strategic refocusing on book publishing. (1/7)
🏆🙌🏻📣 We are honoured that The Old King’s Crown has won Best Artwork & Presentation at the Golden Geek Awards this year! So many beautiful games were nominated, so it means a lot. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees across the board! 👏🏻
