I urge you to read Peter Pomerantsev's This Is Not Propaganda: Adventures in the War Against Reality to fully understand what we're up against — and to start strategizing how to deal with it.

My optimistic take is that there are a lot (millions) of us, who understand that things are not alright. We’re also armed with knowledge of historical precedents. This is not Cabaret, and it absolutely does not have to end the same way.

If you want to survive in an authoritarian regime, start there. Survival is step 1 of resistance
