But I didn’t want Cadburys to taste like shite, that’s been imposed on me. Mondolez made $2.4 billion last year they could have swallowed some of the higher cocoa costs, but didn’t, and more importantly, now costs are lower, they won’t reinstate the quality will they?

I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.

The way the history of pop was warped by boomer criticism/historiography into a hard dividing line between a supposed glop past and Elvis-and-everything-after with a rock focus was a massive reductive mistake that is still playing out.

I've just had one of those experiences that great songwriters talk about. "It just came to me fully formed out of the ether. All I was doing was channeling it." Except in my case, it's not 'Yesterday' or 'Waterloo Sunset'... No, I get something that would have made a third rate 70s sitcom theme.
