In what feels like a bittersweet experience, I'm playing the new expansion for Doom The Dark Ages and it's really excellent. However, I realized that I had Adobe Premiere running while playing - Doom didn't care. Running full out with max settings + path tracing without a skip. That's id.

I’m so sorry for everyone at id Software affected by these layoffs. I know what it feels like to leave id while id goes on. It’s a strange and painful thing to step away from a place that holds so much of your work, friendships and history. 1/5

Little fun fact: it was only 3 years later when a kid in rural Germany assembled a 386 PC (33 MHz / 8 MB RAM) in his room with cheap spare parts, and connected it via Null-Modem to his main 486 PC in order to play #DOOM together with his friends in multiplayer.

35 years of shareware, slipgates, and slaying. Thank you to everyone who’s stepped into our worlds.

So yeah, successfully flashed my old tp link router with OpenWrt via serial port, so I can use it as a repeater (which wasn't possible with the stock firmware). Fried one USB-TTL adapter in the process (was cheap!) due to my semi-professional wiring. #hacks
