Yep…John Carroll nails this. These mega mergers are terrible for everyone except some bankers and investors. Everyone else suffers. Having been through two of these as an employee during my career, I see no scenario where this is a good thing.
I just don’t even know where to start with this one … seriously how do they come up with BlueSky’s best satire week after week…

We already do this and companies who want them are happy to pay for PhD student interns. Why do precious and limited NSF funds need to be deployed for this? Most PhD student pursue industry jobs anyways - that has always been true. Use NSF funds to support basic science that industry wont support!

I hate that we have two Dakotas. Republicans got greedy for new states in the 1880s and we're still paying for that a century and a half later. Two states that, when combined, have the same population as The Bronx. They shouldn't get four senators.
