@timgettys.bsky.social Watching the Spiderman In Review and listening to the format conversation at the beginning about movie theater formats. I personally prefer Dolby Cinema over IMAX or any other format. Was just wondering if you have ever seen a movie in that format and what your thoughts are?

Hard not to feel this is going to be one of those points in 10 years where we all go “Oh, that fucked the industry, we should not have let that happen.”

'Electronic Arts Set to Close $55 Billion Go-Private Deal Next Week' "As of July 30, 2026, all regulatory approvals required to complete the Merger have been obtained. Electronic Arts currently expects the Merger to close on or about the close of trading on August 4, 2026."

Got really carried away making my Pentiment layoff protest sign for the Irvine CWA rally outside Obsidian offices today 🥹 it was so nice to meet folks from more Microsoft units. You all put so much heart and passion and craft into making video games. You all deserve so much better.

Traditionally illustrated poster drawn in the woodcut-style of the Obsidian developed video game Pentiment. It features the main character, a scribe named Andreas with a rust-red cap and shoulder length wavy blond hair, sitting at his lectern with a pen in his hand. He is looking worriedly up at an executioner’s blade which dangles above his head (an homage to the Sword of Damocles). Behind him is a mass of shadowy figures with dozens of swords over their heads or stabbing into their collapsed bodies.

It is captioned “Death by 1600 cuts”, a reference to the 1600 Xbox workers laid off by Microsoft on July 6 2026 (this also includes many Obsidian devs). The ‘T’ in “Death” is the executioner’s blade. There is gold embellishing on the font.

The bosses are stealing our game industry, and we aim to take it back! We’re calling game workers, allies, and fans alike to join emergency rallies on WEDNESDAY, JULY 15th! Check this thread for times and locations as they’re established: 🧵

An illustration, done in a flat graphic style depicting a menacing executive with a sickly smile, towering over scores of downtrodden workers carrying boxes of their belongings out of frame. Below, a call to action:

SAVE OUR DEVS
JULY 15 - Rallies across US & Canada
END MASS LAYOFFS NOW

Dallas, Texas (Richardson) - Id Software
Austin, Texas - Id Software
Montréal, Quebec - Bethesda Games Studio Montréal
Rockville, Maryland - Bethesda Softworks
Irvine, California - Obsidian Entertainment

Unfortunately I’m one of the 1,600 devs who lost their jobs yesterday due to the #XboxLayoffs I loved my job at Bethesda with my whole heart. The teams I got to lead, the features I got to ship, the incredible fans I got to meet while working on Fallout were beyond S.P.E.C.I.A.L. I’ll miss it all.

Microsoft’s Build keynote and Xbox showcase were very, very good this year. The only thing that would have made the Xbox showcase better is having a proper live show. I miss hearing the crowd react to announcements and the spectacle of a live show
