I am not anti-journalist and do not want to come across that way, HOWEVER, they've had a terrible impact on the AI economy. There are so many articles that say "x company gave x company 8 billion dollars for AI!" or "x company's AI can do this thing!" with 0 evidence, even from reputable outlets.

Not that related. But I hope gaming and movies articles don't turn to this with AI eventually, just journalists doing fluff pieces about something not using AI but it clearly does

ok I am in the camp of people that thinks Obsession is exceptional but also every second headline I see about it basically amounts to “filmmaker used standard filmmaking technique to make film!!!” and I’m sort of losing my mind

I think Xbox will also get rid of discs. They don’t care much about a ‘leg up’ on PlayStation and haven’t for years. Both companies are actually actively competing with other streaming services and social media - Netflix, YouTube, etc., as well as digital services like Roblox.

Do you have any idea if xbox would follow sony in this regards or keep disks? Personally I think they would just cause it would give them a leg up on sony amd any bit of leverage helps warning your behind in sales lol.

This is a very well measured look at Sony being Sony. Weird how social media takes one line and runs with it instead of actually watching the video itself. Though there is a homogeneous lump of TikTok/Shorts attention spanners that can't watch something for more than 8 seconds. Hook in 2 or else!

The pushback on this 3% stat reeks of misinfo being spread somewhere. To be clear: Sony didn’t say only 3% of people buy physical games. They said only 3% of THEIR sales (ALL sales) come from physical games. Sony would never include used game sales in a pie graph regarding their own sales data.

Definitely worth a full watch, Alanah's done her homework and hasn't missed, but the final point again is worth reiterating: The gaming industry doesn't care about the people who play games. They knew killing physical media would piss you off and they don't care. You are not their customers.

This is the first time I've seen someone with the actual correct interpretation of what is happening here: Sony wants to go full subscriptions service/cloud gaming. They don't want to sell you physical games because they don't want to sell you *games*. They want to sell you a subscription.
