Here is the latest gigantic cat drawing. Not quite finished, and I am not sure what to name it.
I’m not posting much here lately because there’s a lot going on and a lot of it’s sucky stuff that’s getting in the way of getting the good stuff done. Here’s a kitty.
When Biden was elected, (and even more when Obama was), I stated that one of the major bits of mental relief I was looking forward to was that I could leave worrying about difficult problems like North Korea to people who had spent their entire adult lives thinking about North Korea.
I know I have RTd this several times, but: the WHOLE POINT of the State Department is that it’s supposed to be full of people who deal with other countries, and who could therefore be expected to look at that map and know IMMEDIATELY that it was wrong.

Here's a little peek at the death worm I designed and hand-sewed a while back. She sometimes asks her boyfriend if he'd still love her if she were a human, and if he doesn't answer correctly, she bites him. She enjoys burying her body in barrels of dried beans. jeremycreature.bigcartel.com

Anyway, I highly recommend seeing Olivia Wilde's version of The Odyssey, The Invite, which does a great job of fidelity to the original within the confines of a modern apartment.
Oh, my God. Nicest guy. Was on the Pogues bill at Carnegie with him. His love of music was palpable, infectious, radiant. I’ve seldom seen a musician as connected to the moment of the song as he was that night, in deep communion with the song & the people playing it. So many felt it. Hard loss.
Glen Hansard has died in a motorcycle crash at age 56
The oddest thing about the response to this essay is people who say it’s “personal”. You can disagree about some or all of it! I may well be wrong! But it’s not “personal” to analyze a film or other work of art, even negatively. Criticism is more than “Hurray!” or “Hiss!”
"Elon Musk can keep wreaking havoc and bullshitting everyone because he’s simply become too big to fail. Investors can’t let him go bust, and the media can’t let him become irrelevant. Too much is built up around him, so he can effectively do as he pleases"
After The Economist’s interview with Elon Musk, will major media finally reassess how they cover the fascist billionaire? As its editor-in-chief did the rounds saying she was “not a Musk hater,” he was on X calling her a traitor to the West and suggesting she be murdered. Please, have some dignity.
“In May, a Gallup poll found that seven in 10 Americans oppose constructing data centers for artificial intelligence in their local area, with 48 percent strongly opposed. Only seven percent of people polled were strongly in favor.”
The legendary Willie Nelson “is speaking up against the ongoing construction of data centers across the United States,” calling them ‘loud, water thieving, light polluting” hubs: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...
Not that we needed any more reason to despise AI.
Always a sign you’re on the right side of morality and history.
1. This New York Post cover: “Thousands of 9/11 families demand Mamdani be banned from 25th-Anniversary” is a brazen lie. How do I know? I interviewed the organizer of the petition.

You know what they say: never light a baby head candle at midnight. I don't know what will happen, but it's probably not good.
This Michelin Man bank also appears to be somewhat haunted. I get the sense that he's only interested in devouring fingernail clippings and dust bunnies.
As unofficial town sorcerer, I'm taking a short stroll inside the antique store, making sure that none of the haunted objects are too haunted. This is one of the services I provide the community, although as of yet no one has asked me to do this.
Because women being hurt is not as important as Elon's profits and Grok's ability to create porn.
SpaceX-owned xAI, the developer of Grok, sued Minnesota AG to challenge a law coming into effect in the state that will ban "nudify" apps, use of these AI image generators to make non-consenting intimate images, aka AI deepfake porn of real people including minors. www.cnbc.com/2026/07/28/s...

The thing you can do to counter this is to play a Disney or Taylor Swift song very loudly so that when the “evangelist” posts the video they be hit with a takedown order
Evangelist Whitney Lynn says she preaches on planes because she loves “a captive audience.” She's not alone. It's becoming a trend. If spreading your message requires listeners who can't escape, maybe it's not as compelling as you think. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...
An AMAZING bit in the complaint that SpaceX owned xAI filed is where they lament that the MN state law would result in really, really expensive fines for companies that don't stop enabling users to make AI deepfake porn basically. Here's a bite: xAI attorneys wrote...
OK, trying very hard not to slip off of bluesky again for another lull, but it’s been a busy couple of weeks or something. Here’s a bit of video of one of my favorite new bands, Joker’s Republic, a trio from New Jersey playing at Pioneer Valley Ska Festival this past weekend.
