Drives me nuts hearing about "food deserts" in this NYC-owned grocery store discourse. NYC does not have food deserts. It has expensive, low-quality groceries. The first city-owned store (La Marqueta) is in the middle; every red pin in a full-service grocery store. Not a bodega, not a greengrocer.

Gracie the giraffe has been found in the Texas Hill Country - about 4 miles from where she disappeared. Now, they have to find a way to get to her (the terrain is rugged), tranquilize her, and put her on a vehicle to transport her to the ranch. Luckily, there was water and food available to her.

Important milestone today - inflation-adjusted Personal Income for households is now lower, year-over-year, than it was last April. Households have 0.4% less income now. It's starker for my estimate of bottom 50% households - 1.6% less income.
