By my math the top 10 editions of the Odyssey that have been in the marketplace since the beginning of 2024 have sold almost 4 times as many copies year to date as they had at this point in 2024. By next month they’ll be well over 4x; not unreasonable to think it might be 10x by year’s end.

my most immediate reaction: Nolan has made a strong adaptation that captures much of the spirit of the poem. whatever disagreements i may have with plotting or pacing, i am grateful he has translated this character into this medium.

last night, for my wife’s birthday, we went to the Huntsville Museum of Art, and i was surprised to find one of favorite Winslow Homer pieces in the visiting collection.
