This isn’t my full time job. Just happen to be politically curious/engaged (damn you Brexit). Centrist Dad & proud to be so. Just because I’m anonymous doesn’t mean I’m any less responsible. Honesty is an underrated quality in politics.

Dear tv and radio producers. Thankyou for the invitation. But, no, I do not want to appear on your show to defend the idea that I am English, after 50 years of living and working here, because the increasingly feral right want to turn this into a "debate" and you cannot see how you're being played

"Polanski is a talented communicator as long as his audience is predisposed to like the message. His authority is solar-powered, activated only when the light of an enthusiastic crowd shines directly on him. If there is a risk of no applause, he powers down" www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

A toxic debate over anti-Zionism leaves the Green leader looking like a passenger in the movement that carried him to the top, says Guardian columnist Rafael Behr

One reason England does so well is our second generation immigrants outperform their peers which is not true in most OECD countries. We are also very good at integration. And it's v sad that this is never acknowledge in debates on immigration.

New PISA data out England is now top ten in all three areas (reading, maths, science) and the second highest performing country outside of east Asia (after Estonia). This is a huge public policy success.

"The US conflict with Iran looks ike a Nolan film, in which the timeline has been scrambled: the US goes to military action first, then informs allies, then backwards to economic sanctions, then a warning, then diplomacy - all to get a deal that it already had with Iran, before any of this started."

There is a difference between scrutiny and entertainment. Jason Arday’s career posed questions, but they shouldn’t have become obsessional. Journalism should seek truth, but not public humiliation.

I wish media outlets would describe Nathan Cofnas as a racist rather than a "self-defined race realist" which doesn't mean anything to most people. His writing meets any definition of racism however narrowly and cautiously drawn.

The state of this. A lovely day out for Badenoch and Philp, playing dress up and making pronouncements about early release schemes - having left the country with one hundred available men's prison places, after fourteen years in charge. You read that right. One hundred places.

There’s been no serious attempt by government or opposition parties to convey economic benefits of immigration & UK’s critical need for it. Politicians’ fears of FOM are out of date: EU immigration is negligible. Burnham could aim to restore reciprocal FOM to benefit voters - young and old.

The new prime minister is about to run out of prison spaces. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. But once again, there are no easy answers and just cancelling early releases is not a solution. The focus must be on public protection - including better protection in the community. 🧵
