Talks about Power BI and data visualisation even when you ask him to please stop.

Fully grown adults not understanding the difference between Socialism and National Socialism is actually shocking, given that they could overcome their ignorance within five minutes through a search and some reading.

The smoothed-brain bosses at newsrooms continue to make the dumbest calls by killing off some of the best talents they possess. Axios are the latest. Sad for all those in the team affected, hopefully they are snapped up by better employers very soon.

Some sad news: Axios has eliminated their #dataviz team, which means I have a few former colleagues who are going to be looking for work. @daniellealberti.bsky.social was one of the best managers I’ve ever had and her eye for hiring the right people to round out a team is second to none.

I'm so sick and tired of seeing YouTube thumbnails with exaggerated facial expressions and hand gestures. You're talking about tech, I KNOW you're not literally jaw-dropping over a new toggle button or whatever. Yeah, algorithms and clicks, I know. I'm just too old for this shit 😑

Did the person who built the Fabric Capacity Metrics report actively hate data visualisation, and was the result an intentional hate crime against people who care about user friendly report design?

I don't like to speak on behalf of other people, but I really do feel that as close as possible to 100% of the population of this planet do not give a fuck about the Reflecting Pool.

Apparently you can now watch 'Banana ball' live on Disney+. I wont stay up for World Cup matches, but you can guarantee I'll be staying up to find out what the hell this is!

Enjoying a gentle paddle in the Finowkanal. I had a great time taking a friend out for his first time kayaking. Slowest paddle of my life, but a great day chatting on the water.

Honestly incredible stuff but this made me gasp: "For $100 million a year we can get clean oceans,” he said. This is less than the annual marketing budget of most major consumer goods companies that produce the plastic The Ocean Cleanup is pulling from the sea. techfixated.com/young-invent...

Young inventor who left engineering studies removes nearly 50 million kilograms of ocean plastic, aims to eliminate 90% of floating waste by 2040

'There was a time when the oceans were filled with plastic, and then we solved it':

Is it just me or are people overlooking another negative aspect of the AI boom, and that is the number of excellent and highly knowledgeable people that leave the industry because they just can't be arsed with all the BS?
